can the new sager laptops with GTX 460 run all new games in 2011 with high settings?

or only GTX 485 be able to run at high settings?

Does Sg cubehub have Sager demo sets i can look at? Or any other shop in Spore have?

I would like to know if the NP8150 with the GTX 485M can run crysis 2 on hardcore settings at 30FPS or more.

Currently the only information that i could find on this machine running crysis (1 or 2) are 2 or three sources. And sorry, i just joined. Don't have rights to post URLs to these sources *sigh*.

YES, I WANT TO PLAY CRYSIS2 MAXED OUT (on a laptop) Possible or Impossible>??:)

Uhhh...

I doubt it is possible to play Crysis 2 maxed out on a laptop. Case in point; my GTX 460M cannot even play COD MW2 on 1920 X 1080 at a smooth FPS of 40-60, it cannot play Fallout New Vegas at high detail on 1920 X 1080 and on Medal of Honor 2010, I'm not running at Full HD.

My suggestion is that if you really want to play Crysis 2 maxed out, use the 2.7K that you spend on that GTX 485-equipped Sager on a desktop instead. I'm sure a 2.7K budget can land you a desktop that will play Crysis 2 maxed out.

But have you already checked notebook review and notebook check? I think your best option is notebook check.

Alternatively, you can find which desktops can play Crysis 2 maxed out -> get their benchmark score and see if the Sager NP8150 can match that benchmark score. If the score is not the same, it is likely that the Sager can't play Crysis 2 maxed out.

Is nVidia GeForce GTX 485 the equivalent to the ATI 5870m? ATM, I dun think Sager/Clevo notebooks from CubeHub or MucroAsia can configure notebooks with ATI 6890m right?

485M is ahead of 5870M.

Currently very similar performance to 6970M, (freak 1120 shader 6970Ms aside) though Nvidia tends to have better driver support.

And I think you mean 6970M, not 6890M?

I'm not sure whether Cubehub or Mucro can add further configurations to our Sager unit. It is probably up to Sager and sager alone whether the 6970M can be added...

Mucro and Cubehub are just the sellers/distributors I think

Hi. you two brought up nice points for me to ponder

I cant post URLs. So, ill quote some lines from Notebookcheck and NBR. You can always google some sentence and get the links, i suppose.

ANS1: YES, GTX 485M is far superior.
"Review Nvidia Geforce GTX 485M graphics card
J. Simon Leitner / Klaus Hinum (translated by Martina Osztovits), 01/06/2011
Chart Topper In developing the Fermi architecture last year Nvidia topped ATI/AMD, whose HD 5870 was the leading single-core GPU before. Right at the launch of the new HD6000 GPU series from AMD also Nvidia refreshes its GPU lineup. Fastest member: GTX 485M, which we review in detail here."

ANS2: Yes, Cubehub and Mucroasia dont have the 6970M (this is what you meant i suppose) Neither does any reseller here or anywhere actually.

Ans1: Yes, i know i can get a beefed up desktop for the same price, but I need a laptop for work. I cant get a desktop and a laptop all at once.

Ans2: Yes, i visited Notebook check. google "Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards" + "notebook check"
I got all the scores i wanted. But they are sometimes unreliable. I wanted to know if a SAGER NP8150 owner was able to play Crysis2 and the settings he played it on. Thats why i posted really.

Oh yes, I think the review on notebookcheck for 485M says that it is equivalent two 460Ms in SLi. Would that still be able to cover the needs of Crysis 2??

It's probably safe to assume smooth gameplay on medium and low settings.

Hmm mountain lifter, if the GTX 485M is similar to a SLIed 460M.....other brands might have such models before.

Try searching for a review for 460M SLI on notebook check... I think they do list out other brands that have such a laptop and then read a review for those?

Sorry if I offended you just now.....

Information on Crysis performance with the GTX 485M

No offense at all ... :look: I wonder why you said that at all.

And your suggestion is good - ill also post on NBR if anyone with SLi'd 460Ms have been able to play Crysis II maxed out.

Currently there are two posts on NBR and one youtube video that leaves me hopeful that i wont have buyer's remorse after ordering the NP8150 from Murcoasia or CUbehub.

For the benefit of others that might have the same questions:

1. Youtube Video: "Crysis Warhead on Sager NP8170 (Clevo P170HM) with nVidia GTX485M"

2.Search for "Sager NP8150/Clevo P150HM Review by Forerunner" from NBR:
2(a). POST #48, page 5 : "I run Crysis on high and average 43 FPS ."
2(b). POST #107,page 11: "Well I'm running the crysis 2 demo on hardcore with an average of 34-35 fps. Low is about 30. Its overall pretty smooth. I will try overclocking and see what I can get."
I hope Forerunner doesn't mind me quoting him here.

<Still cant post URLs. Sorry>
EDIT: Oh yes, it seems like Forerunner's post should alleviate all my doubts. However,
(a).He talks only about the "high" setting on crysis and not the "gamer" setting
(b).He also only mentions the crysis_II demo. We all know the final retail build will be different (mostly better, ofcourse)

The "other brands" with 460M SLI are all Clevo rebrands btw, and you have to get Clevo's SLI notebook to get 460M SLI, and they are a lot more expensive and heavier than a single GPU clevo with 485M.

Sigh.. The US resellers like XoticPC, Mythlogic, LPC-Digital has confirmed that 6970m is currently under testing phase for 8150. But there are no ETA yet..

Have to wait wait wait.. But our dear local resellers does not have matte screen option either. Crap.

Oh yes, I think the review on notebookcheck for 485M says that it is equivalent two 460Ms in SLi.

Actually, the review said it wasn't.

SLI 460M GPU score - 13156

485M GPU score - 12142

Still a very impressive score, but not equivalent.

Not sure about NBR tests, I haven't been keeping track there. Mostly dabbling in Marketplace. :D

And regarding the 6970M test results on NBR, please take any of the test runs for ichime's with a pinch of salt. He has a ES 6970M with 16.7% more shaders.

If 460M SLI is only that much better in benchmark, it's really not that great. Considering that benchmark will more or less use dual GPU config to max potential, but rarely are there games that can actually make full use of dual GPU, and you get tons of problem with dual GPU in most new games as well before nvidia release compatibility patches.

I got all the information that i wanted on whether the GTX 485M would be capable of running Crysis II maxed out:
this is this is a lamp's review on lowyat: http: //forum. lowyat. net /topic/ 1794588
Hope i can take the liberty to post his review here. He is also on NBR i think.

Says he can run Crysis II on Hardcore with 30-50 FPS. Great News. He has posted a couple of screenshots as well. Highly recommend his review of the Sager NP8150.

Anyone able to run Crysis II on lower settings for 460M? Good to know before installing on the game on my Sager 8150-S1

XoticPC only sells within US right or do they have international deliveries?

Do you accept International Orders and how is the warranty handled?
Xotic PC gladly accepts International Orders. For any International Order (Outside of US/Canada/PR/GU) we require payment via Bank Wire, Check or Money Order. For any Warranty the customer is responsible for shipping both ways to our service center in the US.

Xotic PC provides International Shipping via UPS and USPS. UPS is our recommended option for International Customers. USPS provides slower transit times and if the package is lost or damaged the USPS claim process can take much more time then UPS.

am now thinking of passing my 8170 downpayment at cubehub to my cousin and trying xotic. I rather have the 6970 + matt screen...

Hello all,

I have yet to decide which gaming laptop should I buy, Asus G53JW or Sager 8130.
Sager 8130 seems to be better value for money,
however,
my concerns are:
1. what if one day it breaks down?
It seems pointless to get the 3 years sager warranty if I have to fork out another few hundreds to get it sent to the service centre in US.

2. Heat -> how does 8130 compared to G53JW?

3. 8130 at mucro.asia is around 1.9k SGD (3 years sager warranty) , 8130 at sgcubehub is around 2.2k SGD (3 years cubehub warranty?), am I missing something?

Hi D9

Yes, your concerns are very valid and I did go through the same concerns as you when I bought my Sager NP8130.

IMO, the Asus G53JW is a better buy if you're concerned about warranty as it is internationally accepted by Asus and we have a service centre here in Singapore at adelphi (opposite Funan).

On the other hand, if you buy a Sager from Mucro and it spoils, Mucro might have to send it to the US for repairs and so you can expect ~2-4 weeks of turnaround time. If Mucro shuts down, you can still service it in the US but the shipping fee will be expensive.

If you get your Sager from Cuehub, Cubehub has its own service centre here but Mucro and Sager gad a big tiff on HWZ regarding Cubehub's repair service.

Bottom line: Whether you buy from Cubehub or Mucro, just remember that these are importers and there is no official Sager service centre in SG. So if both retailers shut down, we have to courier it ourselves to Sager in the US for repairs.

Heat: I'm not sure as I've not used a G53JW. However, the Sager NP8130 manages well in Singapore...my temperatures for CPU and GPU range from 45-60 degrees with ~49 degress as the average temperature during non-gaming use,

Sager NP8130 between Mucro and Cubehub:

Cubehub is more expensive but they give you freebies and they offer warranty right at your doorstep.

Mucro has no freebies, warranty is handled by PC Dreams for minor repairs and Sager (US) for major repairs

Hope these comments are helpful for you

I don't see any point in that. For a 6970 and matte screen, you would run the risk of having your machine out of commission for at least 3 weeks and a minimum of 250-300 dollars shipping if there's any warranty issues?

More importantly however, cubehub, mucro, Xotic, PC Torque and the like all draw their stocks from the same place. Sager. In case you didn't know, the resellers in the US don't even get their hands on the laptop for Sager units unless there are cosmetic changes, i.e. covers and the like. The units are sent directly from Sager. As for the resellers in Singapore, I suspect it might be different since they're not official resellers. They probably have a channel in the States that sends it to them after it is sent from Sager.

So if you buy from Xotic, they place an order with Sager. Sager puts together your order, and sends it to you directly. Xotic has nothing to do with it. What Xotic does is provide cheaper price via their channel, and better service if you need it. Sager's service can be a bit iffy, but I've found their staff to be quite good.

What does this mean? If you cancel your order and wait, the same options are very likely to be available at local resellers and resellers in the US in the future.

I was going to say all this in reply to blue weed's post about shipping it from the US.

Plus, there is another biggie you might have overlooked. When the laptop box arrives at your door, you will be charged 7% of the total price stuck to the side of the box. Total Price includes shipping charges + the money for postage insurance.
You could just get the 485M now from Singapore instead of spending so much.

Oh, yeah. I got a matte screen protector for my glossy HP screen at challenger for 25 bucks. It functions just like the matte screen on the NP8150. (Okay, so I haven't seen the NP8150 directly)
This is my source for how the matte screen on the NP8150 looks like:
