Right now, after researching over at various sources.

Local Resellers will offer a better pricing in terms of overall costs.

US Resellers have much better service than local ones, they have some customization options. BUT, if want to buy from them, we must pay the shipping fee + the 7% GST.
Any problems that requires to send for repairs, shipping cost is also pay yourself.

Shipping costs quoted by LPC-Digital & Mythlogic

LPC-Digital
UPS Worldwide Expedited $219.00
or
USPS Expess Mail® International Large Package Insured $149.00

MythLogic
Shipping will be about $175.00 USD fully insured

After the shipping + the bloody GST.. sigh..

6970m will most likely be launched in NP-81xx series in April or May, but I want to Matte screen as well. Sager does not have this option at all. ARGH!!

Damn sian. Cannot find the perfect combination.

Oh, yeah. I got a matte screen protector for my glossy HP screen at challenger for 25 bucks. It functions just like the matte screen on the NP8150. (Okay, so I haven't seen the NP8150 directly)
This is my source for how the matte screen on the NP8150 looks like:
1 http: // forum . lowyat . net /topic / 1794588
2 http: // forums . whirlpool . net . au / archive / 1652071 Download the images in this link; it comes as a zip file

<i can post URLS yet. just remove the spaces in the links>

You got some info wrong.

By default, only NP-8130 comes with the Matte Screen.
That guy in lowyat or in whirlpool got it from some resellers that offers a upgrade from Super Glossy to Matte.

Our local resellers and Sager default config does not offer Matte screen at all.

But, for you HP laptop, how much does the matte screen protector affects in term of Image Quality and brightness??

Anyone able to run Crysis II on lower settings for 460M? Good to know before installing on the game on my Sager 8150-S1

are you getting the intermittent freezes on the NP8150 that others are having in NBR??? Please google "NBR random freezes with the 8130 and 8150"

PAge 36, some guy mentions that even the new SB chipset units (post recall units) have this freezing issue.

Another guy says he keeps getting these freezes sometimes 4 times a day.

So, anyone in Sg going through this?? THIS problem + MUCRO sending it to US for major repairs could be a veritable nightmare for a new buyer of Sager laptops.

I know that only US and AUS resellers are offering the matte screen and that the NP8150 gets only the default glossy screen.

I was posting in reply to blue weed who said it would be a good idea to ship from US from XOTICPC just for their offering of the matte screen and the 6970M.

I was suggesting that a 25 dollar matte screen protector makes the glossy screen look like the matte screen!

I don't feel any decrease in the brightness of the monitor. Mine is a HP dv9000 17 inch laptop, whose monitors are very very bright. I even have an X61 thinkpad with a default matte screen and both screens look alike when i see them side by side (w.r.t the matte-ness)

If there is any image quality decrease after applying the matte screen, i don't see it.
The before and after images on this http: // www . notebookreview. com / default . asp?newsID=5753
nicely sums up my experience.

No it isn't actually.

<Now im really going to look stupid.> I bought the protector in january, but got rid of the boxing and can't remember the name.....

NO, I got it after a lot of detective work:

Google this "Screen Protection Film 130810" and the third link will be:
http: // orangeous .org / 2010 / 08 / 22 / screen-protection-film-130810 /

its very very good. Even comes with a little soft card which you can use to push the air bubbles out. Comes with a yellow softcloth.

EDIT: hmm, the guy on the link says it was cheap. It wasn't. I think it was slightly on the higher side. I paid 26+ for it myself.

EDITING and REPOSTING: :s16: I dont know how many of you have seen the thread on NBR about the intermittent freezing issues.
I have contacted MUCRO by email. They told me that so far customers in Singapore with NP8150 have not reported any issues.

ANy owner here has anything to say otherwise??? Or do you have anything to add to this???

Thanks in Advance.

Sorry,
could not answer this as still overseas until mid April when I get back home as still overseas when delivery was done about 10 days ago. That why I ask about whether Crisis II can be play properly on 460M.

Apparently mucro do not like to reply to emails recently..
Sigh, why do we have mucro and cubehub as reseller in SG/MY region only.
Other countries seems to be have much better resellers.

Try to be patient?

Alternatively, give SGCubehub a call as I think they are more likely to pick up the phone. Otherwise, if you live in the West region, you can always go to their store at Bukit Timah ...

Have you been to the store before? How is it like?

The store is pretty barebone. It's at Bukit Timah Shopping centre (but check the address) which is along upper bukit timah road. Buses that go there: 75,184,61,170,173,171,67 (I lived at Upper Bukit Timah for 19 years). No MRT nearby.

The store usually has 1-2 persons in it, I know 1 of them is called Alvin. You can go in and ask them questions and they do try their best to answer your questions. They have little in ready stock so don't expect cash and carry. The way Sgcubehubs work is that once your laptop is ready, they will call you.

Oh yes, you can also pay your 10% there on the spot and then pay the 90% later or pay your 100% cash or cheque.

I ordered my Sager NP5160 from sgcubehub on 6th March, and paid the deposit (w/ NETS) on 9th March. Recently I called and checked on my order (past 21 business days already!) and my order still haven't been shipped yet. What should I do?

Wait for another week or something as Sager might be having a backlog of laptop orders from the Sandybridge fiasco or the earthquake in japan has disrupted many courier plans.

If you can't wait, you can give Cubehub a call or go down to their store?

Yeah I gave them a call. They told me that my laptop haven't started shipping yet! How ridiculous is that. I wonder if they are ripping me off just because I am a student.

According to my account information in SGcubehub's website, the NP5160 status is still "in progress". What does that mean anyway? Is my payment even sent to Sager in the first place?

The fact that you're a student has nothing to do with it.

The fact is that there's a backlog of orders.

Why? There were some early models with the Sandy Bridge issue that had to be re-issued, plus all the others who ordered after the recall was announced.

This means there's a backlog of more than a month at Sager. While they're usually pretty fast, what do you expect when there's such a backlog?

Not to trivialise your concern, but 4 weeks isn't that long to wait when you think about the possible backlog.

Hi flee0308

You ordered the Sager NP5160? You might encounter a delay because the Sager NP5160 was already delayed before the Sandybridge recall due to problem on Clevo's side. So the Clevo delay plus the Sandybridge recall probably adds up to a huge backlog.

Just try to be patient for a few more weeks but if you can't wait, you might want to go down to the shop instead of calling?
