hi guys. im having problem with my sager NP8690..

Got it last year august.

Problem: whenever i boot up my laptop, it'll shutdown WHEN windows 7 is loading. it'll take 5 - 6times repeated boot ups to finally get it into windows. And after that it'll be fine. This started ard 3weeks back.

I've tried reslotting RAM, reinstall/format windows, took out fans to clean, scan with spybot n antiviruses. Still no clue of what happened..

Anyone face this issue before? :(

Specs:
Sager NP8690 (Clevo W860CU)
15.6” LED 1920x1080
Core i7-840QM 1.86GHz
ATI 5870 1024MB
4096MB DDR3 1333MHz
500GB 7200RPM
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit

Hi

It maybe due to the voltage problem in the motherboard or your battery was failing.

Try to remove the battery and use only AC power and see if that happen. If didnt happen again, it will mean the battery was fualty.

If when use on AC power only, the problem occur again. It may be the motherboard problem, a drop in voltage. When voltage was not the same to power the processor, it will auto shut down to prevent damage.

Then you need the laptop to be repair.

Thanks

Wondering if this is normal?

I pretty much use my 8150 plugged in all the time, but the other night I tried to use it unplugged at the coffee table. The battery was around 95%, so I started up Deus Ex, and after playing about 10-15 mins, the battery had dropped all the way down to 10%!

Is this normal that the GPU will suck the battery dry so fast when it's under a high load? Basically if I want to be playing games, I HAVE to use the 8150 plugged in?

You are not supposed to play on batt mode; gaming laptops' battery are already quite limited and the demand in power for the cpu and gpu definitely will suck up ur batt.

Hi

Its of cos normal to all gaming laptops or other brands if you use to play games on battery mode.

The battery was never mean to run with high intensive program. It will not last you for long hrs. Same to all laptops.

Plug in AC power whenever you need to play games.

Cheers

Lol, Thanks.

But whats the lightest i can get if i customize it with SSD instead.
Will it help or the base weight of the notebook itself is already very heavy?

SSD will only improve the access speed. Weight wise not much diff.
The chassis already takes up majority of the weight.

The light is from my bookshelf above my working space; light hitting the screen from the top directly.
