note sure if anybody knows of this site: http://www.cheriblossom.com/

created by non-japanese people who study weather trends and they were quite accurate with Okinawa cherry blossoms. The forecasts were out many months prior and it was pretty close. They do seem pretty reliable. The dates haven't moved since January, still March 25 for Tokyo area.

as reported by many weather sites, it is normal for spring season in japan to alternate between warm and cold days. end of last week was warm and it turned cold again on sunday... but it will warm up again on wednesday before chilling down by the start of next week... in one of these warm spells, the sakuras will come so don't worry...

The temperature is crazy nowadays. It is below freezing in the morning on the way to work. And by afternoon it is a sunny 16 degrees. So yes, it swings from below single digit to double digits easily in 12 hours.
