Didn't managed to post much since in Tokyo... There is an ambundent supply of yamazaki 12 and hibiki 17 at bic camera ikebukuro! However hibiki 12 is a unicorn. Never spot any! And I managed to score a Birkin!!

Birkin?! They allowed you to buy one? You must frequent them in order to even get one?

To purchase a Birkin without first having a relationship with an SA. Only 2 places in the world, Paris and Tokyo! Albeit the latter price is 40% more

If travel in mid March, is there a chance to see sakura?
Maybe southern part of Japan like Hakata (Kyushu) and Osaka has better chance?

this year is already a very early year for sakura blossom. the first blossoms came out in nagoya and fukuoka on the 21 March. but that was just a few clusters on a number of trees only

usually how early in advance you all book your flight tickets and hotel for sakura season. since the info for the bloom cant be predicted so early. I am looking at end Mar to early April next year. Hopefully can catch sakura!

Most typical seasons, the 1st bloom is around the mid 20s of March and the full bloom is usually 1st week of April. It is definitely too early now to tell. If possible try being there for a 2 week period in April and it should give you a good chance of catching the full bloom of the somei yoshino and catch some late blooming varieties such as the Yaezakura.

This year's Sakura was a little early due to the warm winter caused by the El Nino. And following the El Nino comes La Nina. The opposite weather phenomenon to El Nino, meaning a lower than average ocean temperature which may bring a colder winter and thus a later Sakura season. You can check the weather end of this year and see how the winter in Japan pans out.

For me I booked my tickets in September as I was redeeming miles during the Sakura season and I would consider myself lucky to hit the right window. I remember being particularly anxious when the weather started to warm up and early bloom of Sakura was being forecasted.

I booked my incoming SIA April 24- May 2 trip in September last year once decided to travel for Japan spring flower.
Chose the flight because of $200 difference from the day before ( Sat ) ; $590+ vs $790+ . My flight
is 'worth' S$1200++ on SIA website now.

Going Hirosaki / Hakodate cherry have
to be end April / early May. I will there soon.

Full bloom at Kansai early April when I was there in 2014.

Going for sakura involves a bit of luck but generally for Kansai and Tokyo areas end of March to 1st week Apr usually is OK.

I booked my ticket and hotel last Nov, considered late already cos Kyoto most hotels were already sold out. Spent the last week of Mar in Osaka and 1st week of April in Tokyo. Was a bit too early so didn't manage to see full bloom in on Kyoto and Osaka.

Overall still quite satisfied cos I finally saw full bloom in Toyko!! After 2013 (early) 2014 (early) 2015 (too late).

Next on my bucket list is Hirosaki Castle but full bloom is usually end Apr/early May and I much prefer going in Spring, although Toyko weather was still on the cold side
