Same item but different pricing?

Even for retail shop I do a comparison on this kitchen sink tap-
Vera Glock DL200.508.
Asia excel -$360
Bacera- $441
Wonder bath& lighting -$438
Yafen lighting-$408
See the big difference in the pricing.
So it quite strange

Sorry I talking about bigger item like the toilet bowl, sink tap and heater. I go a few place and also checking pricing on shopee. The price different can be from $50 to $180. One thing I can confirm is they are the same brand and model. Country not sure

toilet bowl - got real and fake
Toto most copied brand - u can buy fake, then realized everyday got shiat stain

i looking for this bag, cost 200 from retailer, lazada/shoppee just $60++
why cos its fake and has no foam cushion in the back

Different overhead.

Different groups of customers.

Different level of service and warranty.

very simple. profit margin , targeted customers.....
Some just walk in and buy.... they won't go shop by shop to compare price.

u no need to care how much they price.....
As long they are original, cheap and provide after-sales service... that's all


e.g i sell sink $300 on shopee, sell $400 on carousell.
u come ask me....i won't tell u why i earn $100 extra...i will just smoke

Not for me, I will need to well spent my hard earn money so I will compare before buying

Maybe I give a example, this beautiful Gun metal Vera brand DL.200.106 basin mixer, which my sis is using. I go to Asia excel at IMM to check the pricing at $169 and was surprised to see another shop is selling at $294. Then go to wonder bath&lighting at balestier Road, it selling at $250, while the shop opposite, lighting.com is selling at $265. Shopee also selling this model at $210 while Lazada is selling at $159. See so many pricing. All said got one year manufacturer local warranty. So what is the catch here?

Vera ceramica is a MIC but europe brand. I also get wc from them. I get directly from the sg distributor. They have give me rrp, but i can choose to follow or dont follow. So it then comes down to how much i want to earn. But we get all same price from supplier i think. So for example, i gave my uncle back to back pricing for the accessories i bought from them. But if its not my uncle, i will sell at rrp or rrp ++.
I assume u doing renovation now, do u know some of the shops u go to, if we suggest u to go to this particular shop, they will give us a % of the sales. Some shop dont have. So thats why price very different.

Yes I doing small upgrade for my parent house. Then my sis said she using Vera brand so ask me to look for it. Just curious about the big difference in the pricing.

Retail markup is typically 300% to give the retailers a 60%-70% gross profit margin.

Eg the product you are talking about could have been distributed to the retailers at $145. Most would sell it at around $435, to aim for a gross profit margin of 67%. Some shops might want to "earn less" and sell it at $360 which would still give it a gross profit of $215 or 60%, because they dun want the products to stay too long, take up space and collect dust in their shops/ warehouses.

Of course, like what some EDMWers said here, important thing is that you will have to first ascertain if the products are legit.

Not really because the shop's gross profit has to cover staff salaries, rent, utilities, marketing/ advertising, delivery, insurance, taxes, depreciation of renovation etc etc etc not to mention the risk of damage and products buy liao but cannot sell and cannot return...

And yes that's why it is typically cheaper to buy online because the seller can do with a lower gross profit since no retail shopfront and retail staff salary.
