Hi, Any idea how can we download the application from Samsung? Whenever i try to click and run the Samsung Apps icon in the phone, its alway failed.

Even when I connected the phone to Kies, I downloaded the GPS application (Verifone) from the desktop, it still didnt transfer into my hp.

Do you all face the same problem?

Thx

Where can we buy official battery for the Beam? I purchased a third party battery from Ebay, but that wont charge in the phone, it will only charge on the wall charger it came with. I really would like an official battery. Any ideas?

is it the one from Hongkong? how long did it take for u to receive it?

huh? Then why such icon is available in our cell phone?

Besides, read from Galaxy S GPS topic, how the users managed to use the GPS software download from there?

according to samsung, samsung apps is actually to provide updates for pre-installed apps and some widgets for touchwiz.but samsung does also push some paid apps for free through samsung apps to favor customers.but I think BEAM user are out of luck for that.and yup, those apps on kies is for BADA only.

OMG! Does that mean we are the last batch of owner? If that is the case, my waiting for the case like Galaxy S is unlikely to be materialized.

All of us does not has a case specially customized for Beam:(

well...starhub is not selling themselve but some starhub partners are still selling it
I think not much chances that we can get any customized case for BEAM.
I prefer my BEAM to be naked since it's already so thick.maybe u should get a large pouch if u want to protect urs.

I hardly can believe it. This is the 1st time i ever purchase a phone without the casing made available. At minimum, if it doesnt have those fanciful type like iphone, it should have those pirated transparent type where it can protect the back and edges of the cellphone. Those are readily available for most phone model (execpt Beam) if you ever passby any cellphone shop, hanging on their racks.

Why? Because it was only launched here, and it died here. So you can't even find any cases from the usual HK manufacturers.

Can't blame those makers. Blame Samsung.

Think samsung decided it's a bad design after all. So not gonna launch beam anywhere else. Well, good thing is, we can say is u can only find beam in sg. Exclusive to us.

What bad design? I seriously dont understand. When I demonstrate the Galaxy Beam and projector to people / iPhone owners, most people want one. A rare phone to get iPhone sheep fanboys wanting to swap! My Beam with dedicated camera button and flash is so much better than the Galaxy S that I was using since July. I am enjoying my imported Beam on an iPhone 4 plan. I used the iPhone 4 for a couple of weeks, then gladly sold it. With such huge missed potential, it's Samsung's worst business decision ever to drop the Beam and not release it worldwide. Best phone ever! I suspect manufacturing problems or maybe the powers that be such as the copyright / Intellectual Property rights lobbyists didnt want people to be able to share media so easily with a great phone projector amongst a group of friends. I never want a phone without a projector!

I'm guessing it's more of poor software design, which Samsung is well known for.

You're thinking too much....if because of copyright, then they would stop making projectors all over the world. :D

When I saw the Beam, I nearly wanted to drop my SGS for that phone despite the weaker hardware. They (Samsung) really had a good idea going on there. Sure, it maybe a lil' gimmicky at the start but a few more refinements later they would have a true killer phone there. There really is alot of potentials there. Instead, they shelfed the phone, lineage and all in a few months, alienating those who bought into the idea.

I am seriously hoping that the concept returns more refined, albeit from another manufacturer. Seems to me, they rather clone the Galaxy S endlessly then to innovate and incubate new ideas.

Pretty sure samsung wanted to prove a concept here, did anyone watch that Beam video where they shown how they wanted to use the beam? Sharing videos, images in broad daylight?

That was probably what they were gunning for, however to do something like that you need a projector with about 300 lumen. The pico one on the beam atm is only 9...

Atm at 9 lumen you can only watch videos and etc in good quality when the room is darken significantly. This severely reduces the options one could take with the beam.

I expect the next Beam would house a much more powerful projector and it will be a laser pico instead of a LED so you don't have to focus it. I imagine the next one will have a lumen of about 50. Equivalent to today's strongest pico projectors.

But people are right here, arguably the SGB has the most function ever for an android atm.

Where else can you find an android with 8MP, Flash, Video Calling all in one? And it doesn't stop here you also get the DNSe and the pico projector!

The only upcoming androids (Nov) with comparable or more function is from sharp. IS03 and those 3D androids. Glasseless 3D Screen, retina display, mobile wallet, 9.6MP CCD camera... yep these sharp androids will dominate :p

they still lack a projector thou!
