Hey, just a quick question for all Beam users.
I've had my Beam for a couple of days now, did full charge when I got it etc. but my battery life is pretty (well, actually very) poor. I mean, isn't the Beam supposed to have an awesome battery and such? (1800mAh as opposed to 1420mAh for iPhone 4). It can't even last me a day when I BARELY use it!
How are your experiences with its battery life?

The battery will get better over the weeks.but u might need to do a full discharge cycle.
also, turns off WIFI,GPS,Bluetooth,3G (battery sucker) at all time, turn it on only when u need it.

'Get better over the weeks'? I've nvr heard of it bfore, but ok thx..
Yap, I have done a couple of full dishcharge cycles.... The batteries ran out when I was still using it...
May I know why WIFI is a battery sucker? When I used my iPhone, it seemed to not be a major factor in battery consumption..

not sure why but it's my experience.after a week or two,I did see improvement in battery.
Not really the WIFI but the 3G network, disable 3G with app like ApnSwitch.because random apps or widgets will auto run and pull data from the internet.this drain a lot of batt.

Yay I finally got my Beam, now my girlfriend can have her Galaxy s back lol

I got my Beam two days ago, imported from Singapore to Australia. I am loving it. I never want another phone without a projector!

I am so happy with this phone, but I call upon all you experienced users with my 2 problems.

The first problem is that I can get the movies and internet to project locked into wide screen / landscape mode. However there is no way that I have found to lock into landscape mode when viewing photos (and other apps such as google earth, powerpoint presentations and ebook readers). This is rather annoying as depending on the phones tilt, the projector will slip into portrait mode and the photo will become very small. I cant point these apps to the ceiling without it jumping back to portrait. If you cant lock onto widescreen projection, then this is a stupid oversight. I have tried various apps that promised to lock orientation, but none could lock to landscape. I also tried different picture viewers, but to no avail.

The second problem is that when I go to the projector app and select 'turn off screen when projecting', the movie projection becomes locked into portrait and the image shrinks. I cant get the movie to project in full wide screen and have the screen turn off. How can I do this?

Any tips for this Beam newbie?

Finally got mine today. Still charging.:)

May I know when we are at oversea, while surfacing the net there with Beam, is it chargeable at oversea rate from Starhub? What about using the oversea internet throught their wifi there?

Sorry, 1st time using 3G plan. no knowledge about that.
..thx

Already rooted, dont feel need to overclock. Is fast enough.

Thanks Raoxi, restarting my phone has enabled me to project (movies) in landscape mode with the screen off option.

However no matter what I do, I cant view photos and apps on the ceiling in landscape mode(or if I point the phone slightly up). As I tilt it up, the phones tilt sensor slips into portrait and the projected image slips into portrait mode as well with a projected image less than half the size of landscape :(. The only things that stay in landscape are the applications that have landscape lock (Watching movies, internet browser and visual presenter has a landscape locking button) I have the latest firmare JI1.

I hope someone develops a landscape lock option (all the ones on the Android market lock into portrait).

So can other people lock their image viewers into landscape mode? or does everyones tilt sensor effect the projection when projecting images and other apps? Can anyone project landscape photos / google earth / eBook readers locked into landscape mode? Specifically can anyone override the tilt sensor and project images onto the ceiling in landscape mode?

yes,it's count as data roaming which is expensive. If you use wifi,it will not incur any 3G charges on your mobile line.

I overclock and use at 900mhz 24/7 and the battery life is very ok. My major usage of battery is the display!

I meant just turning the projector on and off but obviously a reset does it too :)

I was able to landscape view pictures in the default phone gallery app, is that what you meant?
