My Note 3 has a serious battery drain problem.
It gets hot around the camera.
Even when I turn off the display, it is still hot.
It drains fast and last only 4 to 5 hours.

I checked the battery chart and was surprised that Google services used up 56% of the battery even though I checked there is no active Google services running.
Seems like I am not the only one with this problem.

advise you to do a factory reset and if it is still the same, send to Samsung Service centre.

I've been using this app call Greenify from the app store. It helps to hibernate apps so that they do not drain the battery while the phone's screen is off.

You should try it.

google now ish a kaypoh service to me. out of sudden, spewed something out of the speaker relating to my traveling... have to switch it off.

Same here :s13: But I found it very useful when traveling overseas. It's just that in daily life, I haven't surrendered all my brainpower to my smartphone yet so I don't need the thing telling me everything about my life and the places around me :o

Familiar problem. I had that with my S3 initially, and seems like many Nexus device owners suffered that when they initially upgraded to Android 4.3 which the Note 3 ships with. Have you tried turning off all the location services and "use wireless networks" under location services? That Google Services entry doesn't just represent google apps that are running in the background but it also appears when those apps are running things in the background like tracking your location.

I called Samsung service centre, they said there is a new firmware coming out and for me to wait for it by this week.

I checked the xda forums, seems like many have this same problem.
Nobody has the definitive solution. All the speculations only work some of the times.

If there is something to do with battery related problems, we can't do exchange with telco right?

And have to go to service centre instead?

Note 3's camera is a hit-and-miss. Mine takes fantastic pictures, but another guy's Note 3 took pictures that came out worse than my old Desire S. He ended up going for a 1-to-1 exchange and the new set at least came with a camera that worked properly. Wait a while for the Note 3 teething stage to settle before making a judgement on whether it's worth it to consider this device. Its camera will definitely not match the 1020's if that's your main consideration. I don't think it even matches the 925's. :s13:

N3 camera options are nice, but overall quality the N2 was better IMO.

Higher megapixels does not = better. Sure N3 has higher MP, but the processing time and focus takes longer and the N2 just snap and the results are outstanding pictures nearly 100% of the time. The N3 on the other hand, the yield of great pictures is much lower, more like 60-70%.

Therefore, N2's camera was better. But hopefully with some updates the N3 camera will get better? (hopeful speculation....)

hmm. doesnt Greenify require you to root your phone?
it's weird that some apps cannot be disabled (while other phones can disable the same app)

It's typically Google Maps. The permissions for gps access for google apps are controlled by a different setting. You can turn that off via Maps -> Settings -> Google location settings -> Access location.

but i didnt even launch the app. Usually when i launch then it starts to detect (which i am ok) but not when i dun need it

You mean camera quality cui can 1 to 1? Mine is quite cui as well as my mum's S4. So i thought is the sensor or camera software. Noise quite obvious even in decently lighted scenarios

You don't have to launch it for it to do its location tracking nonsense. It runs in the background on boot...

That one was obviously some cock up camera liao. The noise was worse than photos from my old Desire S and putting photos of the same thing taken from the store's demo Note 3 and his Note 3 side by side, you can really see a huge difference so the staff escalated it and did a swap for him.

So in general note3 camera quality is cui (be it sw/hw issue?) Cos note2, s3 and S2 that i have access to do not produce such quality. Only started in S4, and i assume they would use the similar hw and sw?

from various samples, N2 camera fares better than N3.... sharpness, contrast and in low light condition. under low light condition, N3 camera is a disappointment. i hope it is not a hardware problem.

someone says the "processing" after every photo taking can be done away by switching off smart stabilisation.

Doesn't the Smart Stabilization help to produce better quality photos?
