just got the sudden death syndrome this morning. Phone was fully charged but dead overnight. At samsung service centre now

I though is always Samsung? Card if have bring if not it's OK. Did u register online?if u did then no need to bring. And a receipt trumps ur warranty card.

Thanks for the reply.. I was advised also by the starhub to go directly to samsung service center.. Luckily go to plasing one instead of tampines, if not I have to travel again from tampines to plasing...

now my s3 is in samsung care. hope it will not happen again after i got back my phone..

Be prepared for a long wait....i called them again (i sent it in last Wednesday) and they say they are still waiting for spare parts...

they can see the item if its still in warranty from the codes behind. so dont worry. but if you want to 'extend' to your existing invoice date then best to bring down. otherwise if cant find, just go down if u know confirm < 12mths
so now is which parts not available yet?

Haha actually, its the second time that I send the phone for repair liao... First time is the screen crack when I didn't drop the phone. Second time is the sudden death. I collected both phones on the same day after sending in at 11am.

So when you go to the counter, they will ask if you backup, whats your phone number. Just tell them that your phone suddenly cannot boot, how to boot up? My phone number? I don't have spare phone, and you don't have spare phone to lend me, I give you my number you call also no one will pick up + *death stare*

then the CSO will go inside the room, come out tell you can collect by xx time on the same day.

But this morning received a call from them saying they will deliver it to my home from 3-6pm. Just received it.

The kernel version is 3.031-288630
Build number XXDLJ1

not sure if this is the latest firmware with the kernel patch to prevent the phone from dying.

Quite a surprise they have delivery service.....

The firmware is the same.ella build will be the 1 that supposedly fix the sudden death issue.

So it's basically the same phone with an upgraded firmware? I thought they would send in another new model to replace the hardware issue.

Went i sent it in (last Wednesday) they say it will be ready in 3-5 days. No mention of delivery nor did i know of any such service.

On the 5th day (Sunday) i called asking if the phone is ready, they say it wasn't. On Monday, I called again and they say its still not ready as they are still waiting for the spare part.

On Tuesday afternoon then i received the sms saying i can collect it. As i was working till late, i planned on collecting it on Wednesday instead. On Wed morning, i received a call saying they will deliver it and they ask to confirm my address. When i asked whether i can go to PS and collect it, they say no need as they will be sending it. So i just waited at home and received it promptly at around 3 (they promised between 3-6pm).

I have no idea if there's any change in hardware, but there should be cos the phone can't on no matter what i did to it(soft/hard reset, change battery, plug in to pc/charger etc)...i can't remember what firmware i was on, only thing i know is that the last time i checked before the phone died, it was the latest firmware.

The current firmware is still not the latest though, XELLA is the latest with the kernel patch that will fix the sudden death problem, but it is not out yet for our region....it should be out soon though.

Meanwhile just have to keep checking the phone and KIES for the update.

I just got my S3 non LTE. When i want to update the software. It prompt, phone has been modified. Software update not available? What it mean? If there any way that i can do the update?
