You have to install some program then check the result.. Just follow the step in the link I provided.. =)

Do you mean the emmc app for checking the eMMC type and FwRev? I am reading that thread every few days and did not saw any post on installing app to check the 'update 7' of the firmware.

Appears like all 4.1.2 based i9300 builds will have the fix

eMMC app is not conclusive. Its only VTU00M 0xf1 of a certain firmware date (which cannot be answered by app) that are affected.

Basically not ALL VTU00M 0xf1 chips are affected. Only Oranav test can tell you conclusively if you have the firmware which contains the bug but its a little more involved in you have to flash a kernel to test so some people wouldn't like that.

Do you mean the emmc app for checking the eMMC type and FwRev? I am reading that thread every few days and did not saw any post on installing app to check the 'update 7' of the firmware.

Code:
The "Sudden Death" issue is caused by firmware on the (16 GB) VTU00M, revision 0xf1 eMMC (Embedded MultiMedia Card or internal memory if you like). Samsungs Kernel Source Code (Update 7) has been identified as the fix. There is still no evidence that the latest sboot bootloader addresses this issue.

I got it from the first post in the thread. Don't know why you are not aware of this so called update 7 if you are following this thread.. Anyway I think I read some post in the same thread that update 7 is where FwRev = 0xf7 and mine is that FwRev after getting back from service center is that.. Just sharing..

Anyway the 4.1.2 will be outhere soon so, just in case you got your device from service center recently and if you have that FwRev, you will be save though you have not update to the latest 4.1.2 :)

Cheers

Update:
Just read it that for those that motherboard is not changed in Samsung service center and updated to update 7, the update is indeed from those firmware..

Your eMMC become version 0xf7 is due to change of new motherboard.

That 'update 7' is samsung kernal source code, nothing to do with the eMMC. There is no app to check whether the phone firmware kernal is 'update 7' :(

Saw posts in xda forum that eMMC FwRev 0xf7 is for eMMC made after dec-12. The eMMC firmware version is not affected by flashing of phone OS firmware/rom. Need to change motherboard to get that new patched eMMC firmware version, as there is high chance of failure in updating the eMMC firmware even at the service centre. Some people in xda forum got replacement motherboard with the 0xf1 eMMC.

Seem like the 'update 7' patch will make the phone hang when it encountered the eMMC firmware bug instead of bricking. Reboot to get the phone working.

Just gotten S3 LTE. How do I lengthen the ringing time for the phone? The phone rings for about 15 sec only and the line is cut even though the caller does not cut off the line.

Can I increase the time to say 30 sec or 1 min? I do not have a voice mail service
but has the caller alert feature.

Appreciate any help. Thanks.
