Agreed.. the technician are trained to spot minor body scratches and pushed the blame on the user and void the warranty. They will never admit it is their manufacturing defect . Not only that. Many users owned their phone less than 1 year or within 6 months

Never ever buy any Samsung products .

They always claim it other models that have that green/pink line. Not the one you are holding. Very lame. Everyone just Google already can see other users complain.

Somehow I guess Samsung knows the problem but don't want to admit. I suspect it is due to their firmware.

If different brand got the OLED from the same source, but firmware build is different, then...........

It's why nowadays I dare not do any phone firmware updates..I got a feeling that firmware updates is part of a planned obsolescence feature to make people keep buying their products.

Wonder if anyone did this. Go to the service centre, and when he/she is being called from the queue number, proceed to the counter desk, show the phone to the service officer where the phone is alright, update firmware in front of them. If got lines, can let them know it happen after the firmware update.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Green Line

Samsung’s Green and Pink line issue is haunting Galaxy S23 users again. The problem isn’t infamous among Galaxy smartphone users, nor the company that even ran a campaign to replace the screen free of cost.

Over the past few weeks, some owners of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra faced the Pink and Green line problems on their devices. The OLED screen has developed a straight vertical line from top to bottom, similar to what we’ve seen in the past.

It left consumers disappointed as their flagship phone’s screen went faulty even without any drop, damage, or water insertion. Samsung’s screen replacement campaign has also ended, leading users to get it repaired at a cost.

Flagship Galaxy phones come with OLED screen technology. It has been reported that an LED or pixel element gets damaged due to overheating or any other cause, leading the panel to develop a thin, straight vertical line itself.

Reaching out to Samsung Support may help the users whose models have been affected. The support executive may assist you for further steps, which may require a visit to a nearby service center to get your handset inspected.

Usually, Samsung accepts the green or pink line issue to replace the screen at no cost. However, it depends on the company’s policies and the evaluation results by the technician at Samsung’s authorized service center.

Green or Pink line was a widespread problem on the Galaxy S20 Plus. Samsung offered free of cost screen and battery kit replacement to consumers in India, however, the program varies by country and predefined eligibility criteria.

They can patent this.

That can probably happen if the the phone supports a firmware rollback feature. Naturally of course I doubt Samsung would want a feature like that because people will simply rollback the firmware to clear the green/pink line.

More like they do a software update to purposely trigger this so that people will buy their new phones.

That said, it’s not conclusive that Samsung Display has the "highest" incidence of green line issues per unit produced—other manufacturers like BOE Technology Group (a major Chinese display maker) and Tianma have also had similar defects reported, especially as their market share grows. BOE, for example, supplies displays to brands like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, which have seen green line problems too. However, Samsung’s larger production volume and presence in premium devices amplify the perception of their association with the issue. In 2023, OnePlus introduced a lifetime screen warranty in India for affected devices, and posts on X noted that many brands were shifting away from Samsung’s displays (e.g., toward BOE) due to durability concerns, suggesting Samsung’s panels were a focal point of the problem.
The green line defect is often attributed to manufacturing flaws (e.g., pixel misalignment, connector issues) or environmental factors (e.g., pressure, heat), not necessarily poor design. Samsung has not publicly acknowledged a systemic issue, but their customer service has replaced screens under warranty in many cases. Meanwhile, competitors like BOE and China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) are gaining ground, partly because brands seek alternatives amid these concerns, as noted in a May 2024 X post about Samsung’s display market share dropping 10%.
Without hard data on defect rates per manufacturer, Samsung Display stands out as the most prominently linked to green line issues due to its market dominance and the breadth of affected devices. If you meant something different—like the top display manufacturer overall—I’d point to Samsung Display again for sheer volume, but LG Display and BOE are also major players. If you’d like me to refine this further, please clarify your intent!

True, I don't upgrade firmware after warranty has ended.
