Now drop already 😭
Your portfolio drop?

@Dividends Warrior one still looks good.

@Jeremy1 that's the problem with growth stocks/portfolio. It goes up and down.

And the gain or loss is nothing unless realized. So although the data says that in the long term the total returns usually better with growth, psychologically it feels abstract. And because people usually feel the loss harder than enjoy the gains it feels psychologically more difficult

I strongly believe that for most people having an income engine/sleeve in their portfolio would help them stay the course with their separate growth portfolio.

Overall still profit but I believe all investors portfolio should have dropped in value since overall market is bearish now.

My growth portfolio drop more than my income portfolio.
And my income portfolio every month still gets distributions coming in.

This recent drop is hardly anything serious. Is just normal market fluctuations if you ask me.

Not a major downturn at all.

Maybe your ETF not really affected much
I been buying for quite some time. Not just recent

I have been buying regularly. So the recent additions would be down but they don't represent the bulk of my portfolio.

Over time should be ok. In fact when it is down and hit the 50 and 200 day moving averages is usually on hindsight good time to have bought.

Always zoom out on the chart. At least applicable for highly diversified funds.

Yes but then if the chart is bearish, prices no doubt it's low, it may go even lower due to market sentiment.

But then I think it may also raised pretty fast suddenly if things suddenly turn around

You look at the chart. The times it goes below the 200 day moving average. For how long only? Look back if you were there then you would have bought lots right?

So why is it when it is now below 200 day MA then won't buy more? Cos scared will go lower? Go to zero?

Actually with growth what's the point in looking if not going to buy or sell?

Same for my income engine. I collect distributions monthly. Like I own laundromat , dollar stores, restaurants, banks, oil companies, insurance companies, options writing businesses, telecoms, utilities, supermarkets, chip companies, software companies, and I get paid every month. Do I need to bother how much all these companies are worth every day? What if they not listed? Need to find buyer. If anyone want to buy?

This is why I say must look at the portfolio and be clear what it's supposed to give you.

Growth portfolio is only when realize gains then is worth looking. Or cutting loss. Otherwise don't look.

Income portfolio is collect the distributions/dividends

Cash is collect interest. Or deploy when market is on deep sale.

Property is collect rental. Or cash in capital gains and sell. (Not so liquid)

Retire with how much. What your family composition like
My parents, my sis, and me. Not retired-retired, more like having too free time on hand. I don't have any financial commitments (aside from insurance) or loan at the moment, and I save over 85% of what I receive per month. Cash-wise is on the lower side, but I have only been in this current arrangement for one year. I have 120k (UOB Stash) + 150k (UOB One) + 100k (SC Bonussaver) + some money in OCBC, looking to put some more money into VWRA when the time is right.
