I rental a car from XX rental company.

Returned the car in good condition and owner of the rental company walked around the car and said all is okay and I left.

Got a msg from the rental company a few hours later claiming that there was a dent on the bumper and car was dirty despite me vacuuming it before returning it. Insisted that the check was done by the mechanic.

Currently the rental company refuses to pay me back my deposit and insist for me to pay back the repair for the small dent at the rear bumper which cost $200++.

After disputing on this, the owner threaten that he would send to change the whole bumper and make me pay for the whole bumper instead of the small dent.

Has anyone encounter something like that?

Actually hor the rental he is charging me is not cheap, its the deposit amount small.

I have already spoken to CASE on this issue and unfortunately if you read the thread, I do not have any solid evidence and only substantial ones via call and text. The only way is to sue this scammer which is gonna cost more.

CASE do not cover private hire drivers that work for companies like grab ...etc which is why i guess a lot of these scam rental companies take advantage of.

Reading thru many websites i realised that i am not the only one and there are many other people around the same issue like me but they are unable to take action cause there is no law and the amount is really not worth taking much action.

I just feel all in all that these rental companies have simply no ethics when scamming people during times like these.

I've rented plenty of cars overseas and sometimes in the evenings, there are 'quick drop' slots for car keys at the dealers after they are closed. Nobody there to verify, no sign to form. In those instances, I ensure I walk around the car and take pictures and maybe a video in case there are any disputes. Else always insist on someone to take a look and/or sign off before you walk off.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to keep everyone waiting.

I realized as I look in this company further, this company is confirm a scammer when i was looking into their Carousell page and realised they actually put up the car for rental the day after the car was returned on their page and posted all photos except the rear bumper photos.

And also the day after the car was returned, i asked him if my mechanic could take a look at the dent, he said the car was already out on rental so why would he post looking for people to rental the car?!

I asked for more photos of the dent he refused to send. he only send photos of the dent without revealing the car plate number. and after that any other message after that was blueticked and no reply from them.

I have decided to put this out as a company to avoid, warning other first timer who is planning to rent to avoid this company. It's okay I will take this experience as a lesson but also will want this company to stop scamming other people. It's hard earn money that they are scamming!!!!
