Kids will always learn from the older people around them. To spout a death threat that casually, means that it is commonly heard from his earshot. Past events have shown that the boys have no qualms putting hands on a female which should be alarming to you by now regarding the boys' upbringing. Adding a verbal death and/or grievous hurt threat to it lends an additional edge to it.

Fearing a kid is literally not the main point here. What you should fear are the teens and adults around that kid that regularly spout death threats or threats to harm other people in that boy's earshot.

casual ?

somebody threaten to kill your wife and daughter..
Honestly, its a stupid threat la. I wont take it seriously, but i wont say its "casual" also. I wont feel in danger of the threat, but i will be deeply concerned if my kid is in school with someone who can so brazenly harrass an adult like that. Last time kids are way rougher and more physical than now. Even in the era of parang and fights, noone would call another parent or adult to threaten with such ginna voice.

stupid or not, I will meet that kid face to face, asking him to say it to my face, teaching him that word has some consequences

I will report principal and teacher
that’s about it
but to say to fear for my life after receiving from a primary 3 boy?
is really exaggerated
