Hi so I was using my desktop halfway when I suddenly smell sometime burning really strong and heavy smoke started coming out of my cpu area. I immediately turn off my power plug. Open up my case and check on my gpu seems fine. Smell was stronger around motherboards fan and psu but uncertain about the real issue. Hopefully any veteran can enlighten me please.
PS I'm sorry if posted in irrelevant section. Anxiety attack on me rn

Suspect is PSU.
Remove PSU and try to isolate the smell.

Ok.. So I'm 90 % sure it's from psu.. Am I still able to use with low chance of getting burnt or I'll have to replace it?

your fans connection is correct? Beware that the fans may be drawing more power than the motherboard header can provide. That could kill the board some times.

most likely is psu since smoke/burn damage are easily visible by eyes if you can't find any visible damage on the board/cpu/fans.

burn damage looks like this

What psu you using? Lower quality PSU uses weaker cap that might caused the burn if your board is okay.

Hi TS, define what you mean by CPU area? For PC ppl, CPU is the processor mounted on the motherboard. If smoke comes out that area.....then should see blacken marks on the motherboard.

No burnt mark yet as I immediately off power plug. No idea where it's coming from

As in I saw it coming from back of the case then I immediately off the power plug. Let it cool down for awhile before opening and smoke had been spread out

Have smoke = burn and able to see burn markings / exploded caps if on board.
any overvoltage to the fans might cause burn too.
