If you have booked your tickets/overseas accomodation before getting the SAF100, higher chance may get defered, unless you are someone essential that can't be replaced.

Does it matter how many you defer? If your reason is reasonable enough they should or will defer. You think they care if you defer or not? You defer they will just extend your ROD dates, they have zero losses. The only lose is you cos you will be wasting your time.

Anyway there are only 2 places you can call. Your unit or SAF hotline.

based on my defer experience
you should file for deferment ASAP, as there is a max quota for deferment
if too many pple defer, then the ict cant go ahead
and most of the time your 1st deferment request will be rejected
so get ready a stronger and better reason for deferment
it is also good to talk to your PC, he can help a bit too

my ict mate kana similar situation as me, i managed to defer but he didnt
cos he file his deferment 3 months later than me
heng he managed to change departure date

actually i propose MINDEF should grant each NSmen a "goodwill deferment approval" without any supporting documents that can only be used once thru out their NSmen cycle.

some NSmen have last min issue crop up which may be difficult to obtain documentation.
