Looks like your ST536v6 is still in ADSL Gateway mode if you are using the LAN port of router.

Your router is basically acting as a switch.

To check if ST536v6 is in bridge mode:

1. After setting to bridge mode, connect ST536v6 directly to the computer.

2. Use Windows to create a dialer and check if you can connect to internet.

How to create dialer:

Control Panel>Network Connections>Create a new connection>Welcome to the New Connection Wizard>Connect to the Internet>Setup my connection manually>Connecting using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password>ISP name>Enter user name and password>Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.

Hi Diavonex,

1) Yes, I am currently using Linksys as a switch :(

2) Yes, I used the Residential CD on the first page to change to bridge mode.

3) I will try and post my result using the windows dialer.

Thanks for helping :)

Ok...after few days of calling SNBB helpdesk .... finally got the solution to revert my ST536v6 modem back to bridge mode. You will need to call up Thos Solution Tel:67739693

Anyway, I post it here :-

To set the modem to a bridged mode, please ensure that your PC is connected directly to the SpeedTouch.

If you have previously set up the modem to connect to the internet, you will need to disconnect it using a web browser.

Go to http://192.168.1.254 and Under Broadband connection, click on

'Disconnect' button.

You can then close the browser. (The Internet LED should be off)

To perform a telnet to the modem, click on (Start, select "Run..." and type in: cmd[Enter]

(for Windows 98se or Windows Millennium, type: command [Enter] )

if the command is successful, you should see a black color DOS screen.

Type in the following

telnet 192.168.1.254[Enter]

When prompted for authentication, please provide the following information.

username: Administrator[Enter]
password: [Enter]

You should then see a prompt like the one below:

{Administrator}=>

Please type in the commands as they appear after the ">" symbol.

_{Administrator}=>ppp relay

Hi, I have a problem here :(

My setup

ST536v6 (6.1.0.5) ethernet --> (wan) Linksys WRT54G v7 (lan) --> (ethernet) PC

I have set up my ST536v6 into bridge mode according to Diavonex settings. (basic --> bridge)

Then I setup in my Linksys setup page my PPPoE username and password.
Then I went to the Linksys status page and found it is disconnected. I click on the CONNECT button.
After a while, it is connected and I get a public IP in the range of 220.xxx.xxx.xxx

When I am using my PC to go online, after about 20s, I get disconnected.
I went back to the Linksys status page and it gives an error "PPPoE LCP negotiation failed".
All the IP address become 0.0.0.0

I click on CONNECT button again, and I get Public IP again, then same symptom happens.

The 3rd time I do it, it tell me "Cannot get an IP from PPPoE server"

I don't know why is it like that when nobody else is facing this problem :(

Hi bwaysaigong,

I'm also facing the "PPPoE LCP negotiation failed" Errors
I have to wait for 5 mins in order for the ST536v6 modem to communicate with the Linksys modem b4 can surf the net.

I tried using the residential CD, after the last step..configuring the computer it stops at 75% waited for 10mins, I click cancel and I cant use the web interface to access the modem anymore, does this means I have successfully enabled its bridge mode? Also after restart, my wireless services was disabled....is this singnet's way to discourage u from using wireless access if u got the wired modem?!?!?!?

By manually configuring a dialer, you can test if you have successfully bridge your modem.

Alternatively proceed to configure your wireless router to PPoE to test it also can do.

The ISO definitely NO PROBLEM.
Cos I have tried it out on at least 2 homes, downloaded twice and burned twice, and twice working fine.

As to greying out, I don't understand why either.

Hi all.
Ive just received my ST536v6 today. Line has been activated. From the box, one of the line in the specs says Self learning Bridge and it works i guess.

Just now i connected the modem to my router after doing some basic config (username and password). Few minutes later, im connected to the internet. No need to do bridging like what have been discussed in this thread.

But now, im doing direct connection just to make sure the router isnt the cause of any initial problem i might encounter. :)

Yar, the modem does actually accept incomin PPPoE connection even in gateway mode with no username and password keyed. Don't understand why so many ppl keep getting the residential disc without trying much.

Yea. For this one, i tried the residential thingie also. it asked for username and password. I input Administrator for username and nothing for password. But authentication failed. weird.

Anyway, i intend to use DIR655 with this ST536v6. Will ST536v6 hinder the performance of my DIR655?

yah i cant get around the username and password part too... perhaps singnet changed it to something else?

one question... i went to the modem configuration page and saw this:

Service Name: Routed PPPoE on 0/100 Bridge 1/100 (modified by user)

does that mean my modem is already in bridge mode? unfortunately i still cant get my wtr54g to work with the modem =(
