couldn't find relevant info, hopefully this is not a repeat question

downloaded the app but registration missing singapore handphone prefix

managed to skip that stage, but can it still be used to book rides?

or is it easy to hail a taxi in shanghai?

will be using metro for most journeys except for maybe to and from pudong airport

I haven't tried booking with a Singapore number so not very sure. But I don't think it's hard to hail for a cab in shanghai as long as it's off-peak Hours or u can get your hotel to call for a cab too.

Ah okok, then I think u need to check whether ur airbnb place is it ulu or not. Most of the time I have no problem hailing cab from main roads when I'm abit lazy to DiDi, but hailing cabs will be hard for small roads and more ulu places.

Will a on-the road taxi accept 5 passengers(father, wife, 2 teenager and grandma) all together in a single trip?
Or taxi drivers only accept 4 passengers?

Depends on your luck really. I've managed to get a taxi to take 5 adults (3 girls and 2 guys) for a short (10 mins) drive but there are Drivers who are not willing to risk a potential penalty for breaking the law. No harm asking them if it's a short drive.

I think probability of taxi taking 5 people over a long drive is smaller.

Based on my experiences, most of the rides that I book via DiDi, 90% of the time, the driver will call to confirm the location as some of the them may not be too familiar with the pick-up location or that the place is huge (e.g. shopping mall with various exits). As such, I will recommend to have a local telephone number. There are numerous prepaid SIM card that are pretty reasonable priced that you can purchase for such use.

Hailing cab is just like in Singapore, generally not that difficult unless during peak hours, small roads or when it pours!

Thank you for your replies. Got back already, went to zhujiajiao instead cos it was more convenient, really love that small town! Will visit zhouzhuang when I go to shanghai again

Intend to visit SH for 6D6N by making a loop probably HZ -> SZ -> SH or SZ -> HZ -> SH. Which airport is recommended to fly into, Pudong or Hongqiao?
