Final Countdown by t3cnica, on Flickr

the write up:

East Coast Parkway @ Marina South, Singapore

Inspired by my friend Darren Soh, I had came to document the final days of this section of the East Coast Parkway(ECP) which is slated to be removed when the new Marina Coastal Expressway opens to the public on 29th December 2013.

This 1 kilometre of the ECP, lies in between Prince Edward Road and Marina Boulevard exits. It will soon give way to the re-development of Marina South, which will take shape as the Greater Southern Waterfront.

I have always enjoyed travelling along this stretch of road, as it sits adjacent to Marina Bay thus offering fantastic view of the city. Plus the lack of high rise buildings on the coastal side, means having plenty of sunshine nourishing my face as I move along. A pity that it has to go, oh well.

Gleam City by t3cnica, on Flickr

the write up:

Marina Bay Sands Wonder Full Light Show, viewed from Marina South, Singapore.

Sequel to the Final Countdown, standing on this plot of land at Marina South, one can have an alternative view of the gleaming city. Ahead lies the affected section of the East Coast Parkway(ECP) which separates Marina Bay from Marina South.

The exact location where I stood, was way off from the main road. But I still encountered tourists who came up to me, asking for directions to the opposite side(Marina Bay) where they could appreciate the lightshow up close and personal.

Come few years later, after this section of the expressway is being removed and Marina South being re-developed, people will be able to move freely between the city and the new Greater Southern Waterfront.
