That's the Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, a very fast moving bird not easy to capture especially hardly perch low.

i was actually waiting for it's sibling, another colour one. but since it was on the tree branch, i just took the shot. waited for 3 separate days before i could net something. man, these birds really don't like to stay long on the tree branch, had my camera within reach(settings all done) but i just wasn't fast enough. strong backlighting also kinda spoil this shot a lil'.

Shot at iso80

wah, 500mm and relatively wols shutter speed. you had your camera on tripod? lighting much have been good for such a low ISO.

Wah, you really got patience man. Thumbs up.
Birding is like that, we hate back light, clustered leave/branches, perched too high etc.

Yes on tripod is a must for almost 4kg setup.
This is the 1st time I shot at slow shutter speed (could be even lower) with the aid of remote shutter, hence lower iso.

my supposedly weather resistant 7D was caught in a drizzle yesterday and the buttons all konked up. it's not even hard rain, just little bit of water only. even lesser than the amount of earl grey, kai spilled onto the rebel.

Hi i tried taking this type of pic with variable nd filter at 8 stop but fail to come out such swee pic like urs,can share ur setting,type of nd filter u using & the time u took this shot,thks ...

the water had to be very calm in the first place so the reflection will come out nicely and evenly without distortion.

your LE (long exposure shot) also cannot be too long else the water will be smoothed out.

in fact for this kind of shot u dun really need ND filter, what u need is calm waters.

maybe its too windy or boat passing (causing water ripples) and not enough light to show the reflection.

such photos best to take early in the morning or wee at night where lesser activities on the water.

Bro d3n was right, both shots were taken w/o using any ND.

The 1st shot was taken on 6:30pm at Kallang Bharu.
The 2nd shot was taken on 7:00am at Metal bridge (beside Liang Court)
