Then your current aircon compressor is really not inverter type. Eat a lot of electricity.
You can check your usage easily from SP app, unless your meter is not the digital meter yet. It show by 30-min block use. See where is the spike.

Suspect you are still on SP wholesale plan? The rates will vary hour-by-hour, every day of the year (i believe)

Can never understand how they calculate, because they could be using the highest rate of the day to charge us the whole day usage.

Switched to retailer right after 2 consecutive months of S$500+ because of this. Of course there were months where I enjoyed monthly S$100+ during the cold year-end
