My phone is rooted and untripped and on latest firmware. Then again, I came from an older firmware, rooted it, then used Mobile Odin Pro to proceed. Not sure about the procedures if starting from an unrooted phone with the latest firmware but it should be possible, if not now then soon.is there anyway to root and be on latest stock firmware without tripping the knox counter?
need my titanium backup
else i might just skip getting this phone and stick to my nexus 5
According to XDA users, Kingo will root it without tripping it.Just to clarify.. If i have these, does it means that i have no way to root my phone without tripping KNOX at this point of time right ?

Yep I used the one from SamMobile. I went from MJ1 or something (can't remember; I bought the phone on launch day and that's the firmware it came with) and used MOP with Everoot all the way to ML2still on MJ7, you guys recommend going for ML2?
just do the Mobile Odin method right?
(btw.. is the ML2 up on the sammobile firmware site yet?)
YarWOW congrats!!!
envy envy! I've been on the fence for too long now, will flash mine later today... already downloaded xsp & gonna use your BL tar
btw, I did a quick binary compare between those mbn files, they're identical... XEO, XSP and yours(starhub).
Thanks a million for sharing!!!

Here's the procedure for going from a fully rooted ML2 (or possibly MJ7 and before) to 4.4.2 KitKat:
1) Obtaining the firmware files.
Download the full official firmware from:
Firmwares | SamMobile
Search for "N9005" and download the Singapore (StarHub) 4.4.2 firmware.
2) Obtaining Odin 3.09 and the BL (bootloader) files.
Download the attachment below this post. It contains:
-Odin 3.09
-package.tar.md5 (which is the BL to be flashed).
3) Mobile Odin Pro 4
You'll need to download and install Mobile Odin Pro 4 for KitKat support and its ability to boot into Download mode (Odin mode) after flashing the main firmware (in order to flash the BL, as MOP doesn't support flashing of BL).
4) Flashing the main firmware
Extract the firmware file (N9005XXUENA6_N9005OLBENA2_N9005XXUENA2_HOME.tar.md5) into your phone memory.
Run Mobile Odin Pro 4 and click on Open file....
Choose the firmware file from your Internal SD-card.
Make sure that EverRoot, Inject SuperSU, and Inject Mobile ODIN are all checked.
Tick Wipe Dalvik cache.
Select After flash ... and choose Download mode
Flash!
5) Flashing the Bootloader
Your phone would automatically reboot a few times and finally end up in Download mode.
Extract the contents of the attachment somewhere.
From there, connect your phone to your PC and run Odin 3.09.
Click on BL and select package.tar.md5, and uncheck F. Reset Time and check Phone Bootloader Update.
(I didn't uncheck F. Reset Time and Phone Bootloader Update but it worked anyway).
Click on Start.
6) Success!
Your phone should be rooted, running KitKat 4.4.2, and with Knox Warranty 0x0!
Congratulations!

Are you still getting that problem? Did you use your own ISP's firmware? Most people fixed it by flashing their correct firmware again using MOP (you can try reflashing the same thing again if you're sure it's the right file, it usually solves it)I've downloaded 4.4.2 for Singapore (XSP) and follow your steps and still get "Samsung keyboard has stopped working". Anyway to fix that.
Yes that's what I thought as well!I belive the Samsung KB not working has to do with your CSC. It will affect most Spen related apps as well. You can either reflash your CSC or do a full reinstall.
I had the same problem when I was on the polish Kitkat but resolved it when I flashed XSP kitkat.
