Try using MultiX ROM. I'm using it. Been happy with it.

Will it trigger Knox ?

To flash a custom ROM, I'll need CWM right ? I heard CWM will trigger knox.

Currently rooted via Towelroot, please advise

Thanks !

hi all, recently i tried to downgrade my note 3 from nh1 to ne4 via PC Odin. PC Odin showed Pass. However when my phone reboots, it got stuck at samsung logo screen. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? I doing this because i read that towelroot will not trigger the security knox in version ne4.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi folks,

Here's my device info:

Can anyone advise whether my Note3 is rootable? And, if can, can point me to a tutorial?

I'll try reading back this thread while waiting for advice.

Basically, I just want to get rid of the preloaded stuff by Samsung.

Thanks,
Bob

U can flash a custom recovery with Odin to do a nandroid backup, which will save everything in your storage/sd card and the state of your phone. Rooting doesn't delete any files, by the way. It's when u flash a custom rom that ur apps will be wiped and u will want to use titanium backup(or other apps) to back them up. As long as u don't wipe your phone storage and sd card, the files will remain.

Sent from my awesome phone using GAGT

Okay having some itchy hands now.

I'm going to flash N9005DXUGNK1_N9005OLCGNH1_STH from a NE4 using MOP.

Hopefully will get to keep both root and 0x0.

Okay everything just got ****** up hahahahaha...

After flashing, I got stuck at "Recovery Booting..."

I had to boot into download mode

Flash an old build and old bootloader with Odin 3.09

Factory reset and wipe

Reroot with Towelroot

Not sure if I should try MOP to NK1 again

You will need to get Odin 3.09

Download your firmware and extract it somewhere (.tar.md5)

Reboot your phone into download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power)

Add your firmware file as AP or PDA and click flash

Okay for those who ****** up like me or are just simply coming from a higher firmware, you can follow the instructions here. It works damn great.

I'm on NK1! :D

Just have to flash a older kernel, Towelroot your phone, then flash back the current kernel.

Safety Root N9005XXUGNG1 Galaxy Note 3 Without Knocking KNOX counter 0x0 - GalaxyNote3Update

You can use their ND3 kernel, then flash back to your correct kernel from the list there.

edit:

Just in case, here's a mirror for the kernels:

Did exactly as above.......it worked. Now on NK1 with Root. Knox is 0x0.

Thanks Syraxius.

Dear all, I've been waiting patiently for Lollipop to come to Note 3 and was initially very happy that 5.0.1 will be available soon for Note 3. But after reading users' experience in many forums, it seems that 5.0.1 is a miss rather than a hit. Without knowing if 5.1.1 will even be assigned to the Note 3, I'm considering rooting. Except I'm a newbie. So here are some concerns I hope local bros can help out with.

1. Does rooting meddle with the S pen software functions? I've read quite a few people having problems with S pen after rooting.

2. There are many ROMs around but all of them were labelled to be compatible with overseas telcos. How do we tell which ROM could be used for our local telcos? Or it does not matter as long as the specific phone model is correct eg our local model SM-N9005? I've briefly scanned through several forums and am planning to use the CM12.1 ROM. Does anyone know of potential problems for local sets with this ROM? If so what is a good Lollipop ROM to use at the moment?

3. As a first time rooter, is there anywhere I can find detailed instructions for rooting local Note 3 sets? I've bookmarked some pages detailing rooting but I'm slightly worried it may not work for local sets.

Thanks for viewing and helping with the answers!

My handset (never root before):
4.4.2

Baseband-N9005XXUENA2

Kernel - 3.4.0-340325
dpi@SWDC3316 #1
KST 2014

Build - KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6

SE - SEPF_SM-N9005_4.4.2_0004

Security ver - MDF v1.0 Release 1

okay so I've been out of touch with the scene for a while now
didn't know the 5.0 XSP is finally out for Singapore (I'm really slow ._.)

so just to check if I'm on the right page...
I'm on KK, Rooted, 0x0 (not sure which bootloader)

How can I use Mobile Odin to
(1) Flash to 5.0
(2) Keep Root
(3) Keep 0x0
(4) Keep Xposed Framework

it's a nightmare trying to figure this out and still back up my phone... ._.
