IF purchasing from the States, make sure you purchase from an Authorised dealer.

Much cheaper especially if you can obtain discount coupons, and the 2 yr international warranty still applies.

Shure international warranty does not apply in Singapore. Local distributor will not warrant it. Nearest Shure service center is in Hong Kong if I'm not wrong :)

Bought this today from Jaben after auditioning a lot of other contenders in the 200-250 bucks range. I tried the Gr07 CKM90 and the new JVC FXT90 also.

Firstly I have to say I'm a clarity lover maybe because I'm used to listening to my ATH-ESW9. I still can't find another headphones/earphones that handles both treble and bass so admirably. Or maybe it's just my ears being biased.

But anyways I told the peeps at Jaben I wanted something with a better treble because I want an earphones that sounds similar to my ATH-ESW9 to supplement it in situations that the woodies are too bulky to bring out.

So I kept trying till I tried the SE215. Firstly I was blown away by the looks of it. The transparent housing that's so identical to the SE535. I used to own a pair of SE110 with single balanced armature driver. I remember I used to quite like its sound signature. The emphasis on vocals and midrange, but I lament the slight lack of bass. I put on the SE215 straight into the headphone jack of my iPhone 4 without any amp.

It sounded so familiar at first, that Shure sound signature reminding me of my SE110 which I sold away. Then I started to notice something different. The SE215 sounded so much more punchier in the bass department. I was quite surprised. The Shure sound signature is still there definitely, but bass is a lot better than the SE110. It comes as no surprise since the SE215 is using a dynamic driver.

Next I tried the V-sonic GR07. I was also blown away by the clarity and soundstage of that earphones. I very nearly wanted to buy it but firstly it was more expensive than the SE215 and secondly it's not as sexy looking and lastly it looks a lot of flimsier and the cables look so thin next to Shure's Kevlar reinforced cable.

So in the end I went for the SE215 even though I think it loses out on clarity as compared to the GR07. But it is fair since the GR07 is priced above the SE215 slightly. But overall I'm pleasantly surprised by the level of bass the SE215 can muster considering the fact that it comes from Shure. Hahaha.

yeah the amount of air those tiny drivers in there cn move is amazing, and at that price point, the number of iems that can compete with it i can count with one hand.

though im a sucker for transparent/translucent shells,im just abit disappointed at the emptiness of the shell since there's only one microdriver in it, nthin to show haha

one thing about the cable though is that the memory wire portion is prone to cracking, and mine already has a small hairline crack despite great care and only 3-4 months of usage D: elsewise its an amazing iem for its price:)

Oh my. How do you prevent that? Apply some oil or something? Would that help? But you're right because there's only one driver, it looks so empty. I believe the SE535 will look so much nicer with 3 BA drivers stuffed inside the same shell. Hahaha.

Thank you for your mini-review and personal point of view :D hope you enjoy your earphones.

Yeah Jaben has it now. To be honest I personally felt that the GR07 sounded very good. It ran my ESW9s very close except in the bass department. That's to be expected, because I'm like comparing apple and orange. Since one is earphones and the other is headphones.

If it wasn't because the cables were so thin and that I wasn't rich enough, I would have closed one eye and overlook the fact that it's from a China company and bought it...

Go try it, but not guaranteed you'll like its sound signature. I like clarity in my music, maybe that's why I love the GR07.

guys my UE600 died, the cable cracked expose wires on the right side and the headphone jack suffers the same problem.

so i want upped the budget and get a IEM with replaceable cable and also i might use this for on-stage monitoring in the near future.

so am looking at Shure 215 and 315. which one is better i am more concern abt seal and the music cutting thru the mix on a loud stage.

thanks in advance. budget < 300.

I'd say stay away from this model, or maybe Shure in general. Mine is spoiled twice in 5 months, for the same problem. And the service in Singapore is not great, you have to wait for parts. No timeline is given as to when the parts will arrive. For a premium earphone, this is not acceptable.

I had SE215 since April and loves the sound quality. However the build quality and after sales policy of Shure Asia leaves some bad taste in the mouth.

After three months of loving care, left driver had audio cut off issue. Was promptly replaced by GrandTech.

Another trip to GrandTech due to sound imbalance of the drivers, great help from GrandTech and this time both drivers were replaced out of the standard policy.

However according to Shure Asia HK, policy is only to replace driver with problem. To further pursue imbalance issue, I was asked by Shure Asia to ship back the earphones out of my own pocket, bear the shipping risks and wait 1-2 months while they ship it back to factory to be tested!!! SIAO!

And I will be paying GrandTech another visit as the left audio is getting cut off again!!!

Either would be a good choice. The SE 215 and above models provide really good isolation! Definitely better than whatever UE or Westone were able to. (i've tried and owned a TF10 and tested a Um3x extensively)

Can't comment on the tonal differences between the 215 and 315 though. I haven't had a chance to listen to the 315.

Just curious about your playing situation though. Wouldn't the purpose of going the in-ear route be to reduce stage volume for a cleaner FOH sound? I'd understand if you were a bassist though having to stand next to a drummer. :)
