i am still a bit blur on the opportunity cost. sometimes i am not sure which one divide by which one.

Oh, the opportunity cost has a formula:

What u have given up / what u got in return

Eg. If u produce like 40 units of x according to the graph, then u will get 80 units of y. However, your total number of y produced should be 100. But now as u need produce 40 units of x, u need to give up 20 units of y. As total 100 units of y - 80 units of y = 20 units of y. So u 20/40 = 1/2 a unit of y per unit of x. And its because that point falls on that constraint, so u have to use total for that constraint to divide instead of the other.

For the hw qns 3c, is the answer 2/3 unit of y per unit of x for the OC?? Cos i calculated is 2/3. As the economy produces 190 units of x, then it will produce 75 units of y. Therefore, this point lies on the labor constraint. And as the maximum for x is 240, therefore i take 240-190 = 50 units of x. Then OC is defined as:

What u have given up / what u get in return, so i sub

50/75 = 2/3

So is it correct?? Can anyone please clear my doubts? Thanks a lot.

Actually, every 1unit of x you produce you give up 2/3 unit of y. Hence If you produce 190unit of x, how much y will you give up.

I get 2/3 too. I get it now after your explanation.

For those who yet to receive emails from uol like me..here's the reply from sim that I received today..
"
I am sorry for the delay.

However, we had already sent the student list over to UOL. Currently they are processing and due to high volume of enquiries and documents, please kindly wait for them to get back to you.
