Need help for econs hw.

If long-run marginal cost is lower than long-run average cost, an extra unit of output will necessarily raise marginal cost but reduce average cost. True or false, explain.

Anybody know how to tackle this problem? TIA.

A guess... Drawing the LMC & LAC Curve, the diff between the pdtn at min LMC and min LAC should be the sets of pts stated in the qn as 'extra unit of output'.
Thus if pdt'ing within those pts, LMC will increase but LAC will stay the same.
