I've been yearning for a new ISP to jump into the fibre broadband space. Finally!

2.5Gbps would be a gimmick for most people. I care more about their connectivity.

Looking at Simba's BGP, I see they essentially only have HE and Telia as upstream providers, with a 30GB link at SGIX.

Access to China will likely be their weakness but US/Europe should be good.

I'm excited, and can't wait to be among the first to sign up! :D

If they can give free a good WiFi6 router that will be perfect for this $20/mth 2.5gbps Broadband. Shall see if they going to have Service-Related Charges like Registration/Activation/NLT etc.

Nowadays still need to wait long for NLT to switch/activate fibre port?

If network is stable will jump from M1. Been with m1 even since I use fibre.

If the connection is stable + able to stream China website video smoothly + no registration or activation fees + bundle with average router.. $20 per month would be a great deal.
IMHO.
Just wait for some early adopter guinea pigs to test it out.

4G also like that.
Imagine 4G is like an expressway, 4 lanes both direction.
At my home location, my speed is like using the road shoulder. 🤣

I might be sceptical......their LTE/4G services......CMI. I tried for a month, give me 100GB also no chance to use it.

In the end, I changed to GOMO (ST) and MaXX (M1) for my android headunit and iPad.

Hope their disruption to the fibre plans will be successful. Home internet pricing really in need for some competition.

Great to see a new player into the FIber market. But with this kind of price i wouldn't expected a good overseas connectivity with their limited peering (base on the current mobile network). Some website route u half the world before coming back to Sg.

With NLT cost in, i really dun see much room for making from that $20.

NLT is a monopoly. no incentive for them to lower prices.

Unlike mobile where SIMBA has to create from scratch, for Fibre internet, the big chunk of the infrastructure are common to all ISPs. NetLink Trust owns and operates the passive fibre network infrastructure of Singapore’s NBN. Maybe they have a better chance of success. For example, Viewquest is still alive even though MR was now part of Starhub.

On the other hand, SIMBA offered free SIM and no contract last time so there was no cost to go for the trial, but this time it is S$20 per month and 12 month contract (S$240 cost in total), so I guess many people will just watch and see, inlcluding myself. Anyway, my contract with Singtel will only end in Sept 2024.

Let's keep the hope. And there is a hope here as the government is pushing for 10G Fibire Home Broadband (along with 6G mobile).

like you, i am hopeful, but for that, will need to re-structure the current arrangements - NLT (nee OpenNet) is supposed to be the neutral party owning and maintaining the infra . it will be difficult for the current owners to give up or carve up this cash cow.

i'd say that their target for trials are those using routers with 2.5Gb WAN ports. otherwise, it's just a test of stability and latency/routing. my contract expires next March, so am still pondering whether to be a guinea pig.
