I mean like M1, in my case, I can remote access my home's surveillance cameras because M1 provides dynamic public address. Starhub too because I checked with them.

Whereas MR provides dynamic private IP address. So to remote access home IP surveillace cameras you'll need to convert it to the paid static public IP address. MR has no dynamic public IP address

I doubt home IP camera/NAS manufacturer supports some sort of NAT traversal. I'm not sure about NAS but is very sure those cheap home IP surveillance cameras don't support it.

That's why I'm asking whether SIMBA provides dynamic IP address and you replied that it is CGNAT. So does CGNAT allows remote access to my home's devices?

Thanks
It's not a flat no or yes answer the way you crafted your question because there's multiple ways to accomplish what you wanted.

If you look at the problem from the POV of port forwarding or running a traditional VPN server, then the answer is no because you won't be able to receive unsolicited inbound traffic on a CGNAT connection.

But if you use services like tailscale or zerotier, you can make a connection back into your home network because you're using a middle man server to broker the connection between your home network and smartphone/laptop. This isn't a very good explanation so look up how those services work if you're interested.

If what I just said sound like gibberish, then just ignore and move along to another ISP that will give you a public IP.

Sorry, but I don't subscribe to tailscale or zerotier services. I read them up and found them workable. Thanks. But why the need if the ISP does allow remote access with their network like having dynamic public address or a static public address?

Actually, it's not so complicated like port forwarding or running a traditional server. I believe many HWZ users also use home surveillance cameras.

So it's confirm I cannot access my home devices using CGNAT

Thanks

The latency in acidcrash's test to the GSL Sydney server seem to be about in line with the latency I see when tested* against a few Sydney servers (about 200-300ms) so probably nothing to see there.

*I'm on M1

The latency to singtel's SG server is not normal though, it went to narnia and back. :s13:

Seem like Simba doesn't buy transit or peer with Singtel in some way unlike Starhub and M1, which probably explains the 200ms ping time.

https://bgp.tools/as/4817#connectivity
SingTel doesn't practice settlement free peering for outbound traffic, because of greed.

Simba have update their page to make it "official" with new faq but I think if your postal code is not one of the pilot areas it will say not residential area and bring you to the previous register interest page.

  1. $53.00 for Netlink Trust (“NLT”) charge (where applicable);
  2. $80.00 for Optical Network Terminal (“ONT”) and onsite installation cost by SIMBA.

Cannot waive? For those who already have ONT under another provider like VQ, still need to pay 1 and 2?

There are some other charges to take note:

Security deposit $60
Penalty to cancel order, before service installation $120
Replacement of faulty ONT, after 1yr warranty $30
