Those Western articles will of course paint a good picture of Ericsson or Nokia. Commonsense taught us that with economic of scale, costs will be down significantly.
China already got around 200K 5G base stations in use. They going to have 600K 5G base stations by year end.The gap with those western powers will become even more wider by next year as COVID-19 mismanagement in USA, UK etc causing delayed in 5G development. Huawei 5G is a proven working model, stress tests with China large user base. But SG selected an expensive, outdated and experimental models. Very obvious that this is to sacrifice consumers benefits to protect USA Trump Interests.
Put it another way in local context, it gives TPG breathing space to survive better as the incumbents cannot lower too much price to compete. If cost is cheap for 5G, incumbents will try to price out TPG as TPG has yet to recover 4G deployment costs.
