which part of south korea? I'm heading to jeju soon, need to know too. thank you
I am headed for Seoul tomorrow.

Anyway, just to update everyone here, I manually changed my network to Rakuten and everything is back to normal for now. Connects to the 5G network and connection is very speedy. Maybe something to take note for those who are travelling to Japan and have issues with KDDI.

Can anyone advise how's SIMBA coverage these days? I know my view might be outdated because when i used them when they were TPG back then, the signal was really bad (bordering non existent), namely in MRT underground and inside buildings. Even inside my home in Sengkang was bad like 1-2 bars. Also, they have this weird peculiarity whereby they only support calls via VoIP and therefore has certain limitation when making or receiving calls. I can't remember the exact details. Is it still the same thing today? I'm recently interested with their international roaming package because i believe they are only the one in the market who offers this, but was put off by my past experience with them so i hope someone can share. TIA!

Better you get a temp SIM to try out for yourself.

For me personally I'm happy, saving $30 per month for 2 lines, from exiting Singtel to SIMBA's Seniors Plan. I've been with SIMBA since Aug'23, I've no issues as I've WiFi at home & I don't do heavy surfing when outside eg play games, downloads. Most times I read news sites, HWZ Forums when outside. My mobile is not 5G.

My location is Sembawang.

This was also an issue to me when it was TPG earlier. Cannot receive calls from landlines (eg companies, govt agencies, banks). And you dont even know. Other telcos barred the calls? places like yew tee finest/ntuc also no signal.

Anyone tried the voice roaming in JB? Can receive calls clearly? Need to on Simba data for SIMBA Voice App to work? Or can still receive calls when using other telco data eg hotlink data (also using volte) or wifi?

Simba has came a long way lah. Why u think there are no improvements at all?
As long has network connection, wifi or data, can use the simba voice app to call home.

Simba has excellent underground coverage. You can refer to IMDA October 2023 report which Singtel failed in Downtown Line coverage. Simba passed all underground test.

Simba has improved a lot since TPG days. Now landlines and 1800 calls all can be received or outgoing. They have the best international roaming, comes as part of your plan. 1GB international data for $10 plan. When you are overseas, you can even call home for free. I mean voice calls, not whatsapp call.

I've roamed in europe before and made a 40min call back home for absolutely free. That's not possible on any other telcos. For Simba, you even get unlimited outgoing calls. Reception is always improving. If there is blind spot, you can email them and they are responsive to improve network.

Need advice on this, as I never use the roaming offered by SIMBA.

For example go to JB, would be

1) after cleared the custom, then manual search for their partner network (Celcom)
2) after manual set to "Celcom", then switch "on" the "Data Roaming" on your HP

and ready to go?

What are some of the issues encountered during roaming?
I just back from JB and it was a breeze when using the roaming provided by SIMBA.

As advised, just on the data roaming on your phone, and once cleared the causeway in a while, it switched over to "CELCOM".

Just my personal exp. Cos I missed a few important calls in the past and there were not even miss call alerts.

Just google:
Mobile devices use VoLTE, deskphones and PC's use VoIP. It's arguably the main difference between the two. Because VoLTE uses your GSM or cellular data connection, it cannot be used by devices that don't have a SIM card. Whereas many businesses have deskphones and PC's in their office that use VoIP, not VoLTE.

How did simba solve the landlines / voip calls issues? How come other telcos not affected?

Dunno what you mean. Volte is 4G technology. Simba only has 4G network. Other telcos still have 3G network. The simba voice app is using voip for calls. That's why no sms capability.

Should be "MY CELCOM", unless it switched back to "CELCOM".

Has anyone gotten Wi-Fi Calling to work on the iPhone? I have enabled it in Settings but the telco label does not have the Wi-Fi suffix like it did when I was with another telco.

I just subscribed to esim and wanted to understand that for the 1GB free monthly roaming, if let's say I exceeded 1GB and I didn't notice it, will the internet connectivity stop immediately after utilised 1GB for that month or will it continue to have internet connectivity and charge you at the end of the billing cycle for the excess usage >1GB ?

I think stops immediately. Need to have balance in eWallet for no disruptions. Exceeding quotas will be deducted from eWallet & not monthly billing.

This is SIMBA's way of controlling unknowingly excess usages.

The credits in your SIMBA Wallet can be used for plan renewal, charges for excess usages and more. Credits in SIMBA Wallet are not refundable or exchangeable for cash.

Hi, I would like to ask if Simba and MyRepublic are the only telco in Singapore to offer VOIP apps - SIMBA Voice and MyRepublic Talk respectively

No other telco has VOIP apps? Or are there that I'm not aware of?
