surprise nobody mention about this new simba plan yet 10gb roam in malaysia for $30 for 90 days which is $10 a month .. not the cheapest but ... some like it ?

SIMBA_MY130.55be00d3.png

"*One time payment of $30 for first 90days. $39 for 90days thereafter."
https://www.simba.sg/130gb-my-sim-only-plan
"The Service is at $39 every 90 days. Recurring charges are payable every 90 days in advance"

So this is effectively a $13/30days plan (while $10/30days only for first 90days).

Maybe useful for some because this $13 plan gives 130GB local data + 10GB roaming data in Malaysia + 100 IDD call mins to Malaysia (every 30days).

You have to think / decide for yourself.

The problem w/ SIMBA is that -- (currently) no change of plan is supported:
https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/articles/4487083861913-Can-I-request-for-a-change-of-plan-
So if you find this this plan not suitable after using it for some time -- you can't change to another SIMBA plan (unless you port out; then later port back in to SIMBA again).

If you are on the $18 plan, this is a compelling 'downgrade'. You give up the 2GB roaming for the 10GB MY-only roaming, but save $5 a month (after the promo period).

If you are on the $10 plan, I'm not sure it is worth giving up the 1GB roaming for MY-only roaming (&$3 more per month), but for those who needs a lot of data in Malaysia, this might be worth it, esp if you don't want to fiddle with multiple SIM cards.

So if you find this this plan not suitable after using it for some time -- you can't change to another SIMBA plan (unless you port out; then later port back in to SIMBA again).

You're also effectively locked in for 3 months at a time, unlike the other monthly plans.

Haha! For her case! That 10GB of Roaming data, be it quarter-cooked or half-cooked comes first since she travels to different countries super often, not just Malaysia! ;)

Afterall, most overseas hotels and malls and certain outdoor areas have free wifi if the SIMBA roaming data is not properly cooked at that point of time. :D

I have a question - hope friends here can enlighten me.

Recently ported in my father's Starhub postpaid to Simba Seniors (sim only) plan ($5 per 30 days). We received the Simba SIM card in the letter box but cannot activate it despite following the instructions given in the Simba mailer. Basically we were supposed to scan the QR code, go online, provide my dad's particulars via Singpass and when it came to the step where we enter the "Simba Number" (assume this is the ported in mobile number), after entering the number and clicking "Next" nothing happens.

My question is - do we need to receive email notification from Simba first, informing us that porting in is completed before we activate the Simba SIM card? Is this the reason why the activation process above failed?

Thank you for any advice!

Yes! You have to wait for SIMBA's SMS telling you that your number has been ported-in from StarHub before you can activate the SIMBA sim card!

Oh! I can't be very sure at the moment. It was either by SMS or email or by both!

You just continue using your StarHub line until being notified by SIMBA either via SMS or email ort both. :giggle:

Hi, so my senior mum is using Giga in my name, I intend to get her Simba senior plan under her name since she's a senior. Can she retain the Giga number that is under my name? Are there hoops to jump through to accomplish the retention? Thanks 🙏

Can I change my existing SIMBA Plan to Seniors Plan?

Unfortunately, at this moment, the Seniors Go Digital Plan and Mobile Access for Seniors Plan are only available for new sign-ups. If you are eligible for either plan and wish to sign up, please sign up as a new line with us.

You have to transfer the line to her name.
SIMBA and Giga doesn't support transfer of ownership.

You have to go through other MNOs/MVNOs that support transfer of ownership before porting into Senior plans.

That's a lot of hoops indeed. Thanks for your help.

Anyone encounter problem when trying to activate the SIM card? I am stuck at the “enter your SIMBA mobile number” page, after keying the new mobile number and “no such number” error.

Im running into this issue too. But reading the past comments, we have to wait for a certain SMS or email that will confirm the port-in. The activation should work after that. Continue using your old SIM card until then

I am not porting in. Just a new number new line.
Usually pop in SIM card and should connect to network already. Why this SIMBA so troublesome?

Home delivery use case is bad due to the activation issue. As for walk in pick up customer seem ok from the start.
