what do you set for apn in malaysia?
customer service says tpg. thought it should be my celcom.

You can think of APN as the "VPN".

All mobile data traffic must transit through the origin carrier, which in this case, is SIMBA Telecom (formally known as TPG Telecom).

So, you may be a roaming customer on MY CELCOM, but all your data will transit through SIMBA/TPG Telecom before going to the internet.

Therefore, TPG is the APN required even when roaming, not the roaming operator's default settings.

For Orange France carrier profile, it is likely that the traffic flows through Orange FR instead of SIMBA/TPG Telecom but the rationale is the same: Any traffic from the roaming partner (e.g. EE UK / AT&T USA) would transit through Orange FR before going to the internet.

I was in JB yesterday. initially, I set to TPG, I can surf only for a brief moment. couldn’t connect afterwards. i changed it to “My Celcom” and it was good the whole time.

That was why I'm puzzled that got people set APN to celcom4g and it works?

For the senior plan $5/30 days, other than age, are there any other requirements to meet? Such as housing type registered to name, etc?

I've no idea, I see him setting MY CELCOM and that confused me too

No need, just went to Malaysia and Indonesia, no need to touch APN at all. Just select network operator only

Currently those existing users have extra 2GB malaysia data roaming. They will deduct from the 2Gb extra free malaysia data first than the 1GB. The promo ends 31 Aug.

The extra 2Gb data cannot be seen on the app. But can be seen when you log into their Web portal.

or you can text "2" to number "1218" to check. Free sms.

No need, just went to Malaysia and Indonesia, no need to touch APN at all. Just select network operator only

same. I went to Malaysia and do a manual search for certain 4g, and once connected you will see celcom-simba.

Ya lor! I have been to JB, KL and Sarawak in early/mid August. I didn't touch the APN (TPG) at all. I just selected Celcom4G as my Network Operator and worked like a champ at all locations!

Am now in Germany, using Samsung 20+, tried Samsung A7(2018) as well, can see supported providers. Emailed to Simba tech. Still not working. How difficult to connect to a network?

Hoping to get some tips here?

Number Ported out (plan terminated) 7 business days before the end of 2 billing cycles (2 x 30 days).
Total cost 2 x $10.
No porting out document needed to be submitted.


Please note that the following casual observations were made using SIMBA Voice app on a mobile device that is NOT ON the TPG/SIMBA list of supported devices.

I had an issue with receiving incoming calls.
Callers frequently were not able to get any dial tone after calling or noticed very unacceptable lag between calling and getting through.
This issue occurred in locations where the signal strength was bad ( about -97 dbm to -112 dbm).
There was no issue with outgoing calls in the same locations !
The voice quality of succesful calls was very good.
Normal web surfing was OK.
Where able to switch to WiFi internet connectivity, the receiving of incoming calls was no more an issue.

Battery usage was also higher due to the need to use SIMBA Voice app on my unsupported mobile device.

If not for the above issues, I would definitely have continued with the $10/mth plan.

Having a look at CELLMAPPER before making your choice of MNO or MVNO is helpful.

Did u set the APN as TPG? (Samsung default is internet)

Did u use it in Singapore for at least 48h straight before leaving and SMS to 1218 to check if it's roaming ready? (Mandatory requirement)

Are you able to find an iPhone user, setup the APN and connect, and see if the device change from "Carrier XX.X" to "Orange France XX.X"? And also connect to the roaming carrier?
(If the sim card doesn't change to Orange France after trying to manually connect for at least 10 mins, means it's not roaming ready. Don't bother using SIMBA SIM for this trip, it won't get fixed until you're back in Singapore.)

IMHO.
Cannot connect with Samsung Note10+ in Heathrow/London and JFK/NewYork.
The same phone can connect to Malaysia.
Anyway, terminate the SuperRoam.
Suspect maybe Exynos chipset.
