Anyone has experience on this?

It’s a little frustrating cos can’t call simba to check if portong is complete or not. It’s a little odd it took so long

The porting may not be successful. It typically ports over overnight. Good to check with SIMBA directly. Alternatively, try rebooting the phone with the new SIM card.

I am porting in to esim. Do I scan the Simba esim QR code first before my current provider line is cut or only after the current line is no longer active?

After, if you don’t want to screw up your phone settings with temporary number issues which will affect iMessage/FaceTime.

How's SIMBA roaming in Taiwan with GT Mobile? I'll be going to Taipei, Kaohsiung and Tainan Cities. Thanks!

Bought over...and then shut down?
More like merge into Far EasTone, which will take over the assets of GT.

From the local news most GT subscribers do not need to change SIM card, so for Simba most likely will roam on Far EasTone network from 15 Dec onwards, which is good since they have much better coverage compared to GT .

I think it will be business as usual.

News article (1) states that Asia Pacific Telecom Group (APTG) would be delisted on 2023/12/15. (2) quotes a spokesperson from Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) stating that APTG users can retain their SIM cards temporarily after the merger is complete. APTG SIM cards would have to be replaced to use Far EasTone's network, and this would happen in batches.

Looks like APTG's network would run till the card replacement is complete.

Update: Reply from SIMBA support dated 2023/11/21
You may still connect to APTG as of the moment. If there's any changes, we will update the roaming partner list on the SIMBA website.

i just come back from Taiwan (Kaohsiung, Tainan, Chiayi, Chunghua, Taichung, Miaoli, Taoyuan, Taipei) 2 days ago.

Roaming with GT-4G. Tried manually to register to other telco (fareastone) unable to do so.

GT-4G is generally fine in the cities, webpages load fast. The only problem i faced was in Yangmingshan where at the top, there was no network.

Just to share im using Simba $10 plan. Im quite surprised with the connection for just $10.

Went to Johor connected via Celcom and its on 5G. Speed was good compare to using uMobile!

Workplace in Jurong Island and it has 5G connectivity.
IMO simba 4G/5G connection is a way better than my Starhub main line in Jurong Island.

MRT DTL connectivity was below average.
MRT TEL and NEL was average. Some dead spots underground.
MRT EWL was good.

Overall a great experience! A great backup solution for data! Currently using Nothing Phone 1 with Simba VO-LTE!
