Well, I feel it's more targetted to those that are on legacy, contractual telco plans from the other MNOs, which I believe are a significant portion still.
Even just having them off to SIMBA is a sizeable amount to target at I believe.
Still, the ads is really lame, those on expensive plans probably also knows about other telcos cheaper offer, they will jump ship long ago if they could or want. Guess Simba just goes through motion of advertising just to make themselves seen. 😅

No ah, I was like you till I noticed that actually such group do not know of SIMBA much less MVNOs, with such cost savings possible.
Those that know should/would have already signed up for such cost savings than traditional MNOs plans/contracts.

Simba line can't make nor receive calls suddenly.

What should I do? Already checked APN and restarted phone numerous times.

I do recall hitting 300mbps on zym 4g previously

Yes there are reports that people can hit even 400 Mbps using SingTel network with Singtel MVNOs.

Near admiralty secondary

I guess these places are the places I don't normally go to (eg: East side and North side). Maybe next time I will try Bishan and Toa Payoh.

on some occasions, calling out failed.
I had to reinitiate the call again.
Only faced this issue with Simba.
Makes me think if I should go back to eight. :s22:
I've been trying since I first realized hours ago, still neither in nor out.

You're right, such an issue I've read about in the past is mainly with Simba. Maybe I should think about porting out as well.

Actually what are the main advantages of SIMBA S$12 plan over Eight 5G S$14.80 per month plan, other than being cheaper?

Even Eight 4G S$8 per month plan seems to be usable if I lower my expectations.

Eight $11.80 is designed to match Simba $12, $14.80 just adds 5G. With that in mind, only advantages left is the additional roaming countries, wifi calling overseas and voice app.

Thanks.

I am thinking whether I want to get a SIMBA S$12 per month plan to try out roaming performance for my upcoming short China trip in mid December, in Comparison to my Eight S$8 4G plan.

I only need a bit of data. Voice call is good to have so Maxx is not that suitable.

For local use, I actually feel my Maxx S$10 plan is pretty good, even with minor glitches (occasionally need to airplane mode and then get back 5G SA).

Simba $10 has 3GB data with Group A which covers China. But given just $2 difference, $12 plan does gives quite a bit more data.

Thanks for the info.

Indeed SIMBA S$12 SIMBA plan gives 26 GB for China Roaming whereas SIMBA S$10 plan gives only 3GB for China Roaming.

1) SIMBA $12 plan.
2) SIMBA S$10 plan.
3) Eight S$11.8 4G plan and S$14.8 5G plan
4) Eight S$8 4G plan
  • 2GB Intl Roaming
  • 588 Mins Local Talktime
  • 288 IDD Mins (Excl. Myanmar)
  • 88 IDD Mins (Myanmar)

i think reliability is a series issue here.

I reckon those piggyback on the major telco networks are more reliable in terms of basic function such as calling out, where as Simba forces one to use VoLTE and does not welcome older phones (e.g., my iPhone 7 Plus). Not sure major telco still uses the conventional call service, unlike Simba where it forced network-wide implementation of VoLTE. Pls enlighten me if I am wrong.

With the reliability issue, makes me wonder, how many missed calls that I am not aware of.

i reckon eight's offering is more attractive in terms of roaming data, but SIMBA offers free voice roaming, where eight is dependent on one's IDD quota/allowance.
