I wonder why Simba is doing all these, increasing data, call minutes and SMS, now even roll-over. It is kinda like making the competition to a level that other telcos definitely cannot match, especially Eight Mobile which always try to follow suit.

Of cos in term of speed, it remains as the lowest rung, which is the edge of others. But it seems to be pointing that the approval of the taking over may not be hopeful, hence the desperate measure now.
SIMBA reported about 160,000 more mobile subscribers between July 31, 2025, and January 31, 2026. That's an annualized subscriber growth rate of 25.6%. Nobody else grew like that. SIMBA ended with about 1.41 million subscribers on January 31 (their most recent report) in a market with a population of only 6 million including children. They also reported a net profit (a higher one), and they continued investing in their network.

What's not to like if you're a corporate CEO or CFO?

Whether you personally like SIMBA's offers and service or not is perhaps a separate question. But CLEARLY lots of people see value in their offers.

We know SIMBA's network (on average) doesn't have the fastest available download and upload speeds in Singapore. It's not the network that will post the highest Speedtest numbers.

However, in Opensignal's most recent report (December, 2025), SIMBA's network scored very well in the "Reliability Experience" dimension, second only to Singtel — ironically the network that had a big, long outage just a couple months ago. Here's how Opensignal explains this dimension:

Opensignal’s Reliability Experience measures the ability of Opensignal users to connect to and successfully complete (basic) tasks on communication service providers’ (CSP) networks. It analyzes how much Opensignal users’ experience is affected by the radio access and core network, along with issues that prevent them from connecting to the internet even if they have a connection to their CSP’s network. It also factors in users’ ability to successfully use lower performance applications including SD video, over-the-top voice calls and web browsing.

I'd caution everyone NOT to assume that 1.41 million subscribers (and climbing) are somehow "crazy." A lot of people like SIMBA at least well enough, and they're voting with their dollars and their (net) port-ins. If Opensignal's scoring is accurate, SIMBA's network does a commendable job supporting what most people do with their mobile phones: standard definition video, WhatsApp and FaceTime calls, and Web browsing. (And voice calls, and text messages via WhatsApp, SMS, and iMessage.) Good for them, and thanks for the competition.

SIMBA also apparently doesn't discriminate between "classes" of subscribers based on QCI values, unlike all of the MNOs with respect to their "value" brands and their MVNOs. If for example you're an Eight subscriber on a congested tower (deprioritized QCI value on StarHub/Antina), would you be better off as a SIMBA subscriber in an equally congested situation? Maybe! Unfortunately Opensignal doesn't seem to score subbrands and MVNOs, so we don't even have that limited source of data to consider.🤔

Cause they can, and as long as not all the users are fully maxing out their entitlement, they are in the green

Using cloud storage providers or disk quota in general as another example.
Just because you purchase 2 TB of cloud storage dosen't mean they really lock down 2TB of space for you.
If you only use 100GB, they are happy since they can use that other 1.9TB on another customer first.
Once you start using more, then other "allocated" space will be assigned to you.

They dun have much to lose. Not many will utilize all the data. Is more of a feel good factor, an insurance to end users. If I need it is there.
Definitely they can afford to do it but why now as there is no urgency to do it since the big game will only start after taking over M1? That is why I feel something must have not be going on as per planned, which is of cos good news for us as users. 😁

Roll over usage is definitely a measure that will affect Simba itself than competitors, most higher tier plans users will very highly likely downgrade their plans to the basic plans, given that they can save up their roaming data for future use.

Maybe the rollover feature will encourage some SIMBA subscribers to switch from higher to lower cost plans. But that phenomenon could be perfectly acceptable if SIMBA wins at least enough new customers. IMDA reported there were about 9.8 million mobile lines in June, 2025. About 86% of them are not yet SIMBA lines. That's a lot of room for growth.

Also bear in mind that SIMBA probably has a much greater percentage of their customer base already on their entry S$5 (senior) and S$10 plans than other MNOs do, especially the MNOs beginning with the letter S. I think it's a smart move competitively. The other MNOs face a fairly stark choice. If they even partially match SIMBA's rollover feature — for example, with a 3 month rollover instead of 6 months — they'll wipe out a lot of the highly profitable overage charges they're currently collecting from a subset of their subscribers and encourage their significantly higher spending customer base to downgrade to lower cost plans. If they don't match, they'll lose some more customers to SIMBA. If the MVNOs match, they'll pull some higher spending MNO subscribers into lower cost MVNO deals. SIMBA would be happy with any of these outcomes, or any combination.

If you port in from other telco to simba, do you get a usable simba temp number before the port in?

Otherwise, if port in fail, you alrdy paid for 1 mth, just wasted?

I believe they'll ask you to go check with the donor telco then get back to them when settled.
Eight and every other telco has a temp number once you signup n pay initial month. If port in rejected, temp number if yours to use for that mth since u alrdy paid for it. If accepted, next day temp number becomes your port in number.

Nope. Singtel didn't give me a temporary number. Singtel the big red one, mind you.

Wont cheat means what? You alrdy paid for 1mth but you don't even have a working number if port in rejected
The onus is upon us to make sure our line is free from any obligation before porting. It's on us to go chase our donor telco, and that I did, until it's solved and I got back to Singtel to go ahead with the process again.

Cheat?

Edit : Lo and behold, I forgot to remind that with Singtel there's already a year's contract tied up.

How to see the rollover? My app only shows as my plan entitlements reset on the first instead of reset at the start of new cycle
