Almost 2 weeks, paypal asked me to check with merchant, merchant told me no charge at their end as I cancelled the order immediately after I placed the order, now waiting paypal to reply. So I wonder if it is due to the card that we charge to as SingLife is not a bank.

Paypal is the one that charged your card, and should be the one refunding you (that's the whole point of Paypal for merchants, not dealing with charging customers directly).

Paypal can make it hard to reverse a transaction, invoking reasons such as "check with the merchant first" just to keep you busy and not aimed at Paypal.

Most probably, you should insist on getting the refund from Paypal, not Singlife, not the merchant.

EDIT: this reply above was assuming the merchant is in good faith, but if the merchant says no charge from him but in fact it actually had a charge, then that's a problem with the merchant too.

ya, merchant said no charge, Paypal wanted proof of a refund transaction ID from merchant's side. Next time will just charge direct to the card. Anyway, was told by PayPal that after 30 days if still pending, it will auto refund by itself. Seem like what u said is true, PayPal making it difficult to process the refund as they are probably worried that if there was indeed a transaction that went through at the merchant and not cancelled as what I had told them.

I have yet to receive OTP after logging in since morning. I'm referred to the technical dept bout it. So what did the CS told u?

I applied for an account on 3rd Dec and until now still not approved. I whatsapp them on 4th and was told it will take 5-7 working days....

The weird thing is my wife applied on the same day as me and she got instant approval and account created.

Finally my account got approved on 15th, transferred money in already

i tried withdrawing $ from Singlife back to my bank, it worked Instantly!!!!!!!
and i do not have OTP issues at all

If the merchant (in this case PayPal) doesn't process a refund, the next step is to raise a chargeback with the issuing bank. Though since singlife isn't a bank, I wonder who will process the chargeback.

Since you paid via PayPal, the merchant has to reverse the transaction on their end. If you click on your initial payment details in your PayPal account, the transaction should state that it's been refunded or cancelled.

After that, it's as the other comments have written: it takes time for PayPal to send the money back to your card. Some cards process it within a few days, others might take 30 days.

I withdrew a sum of money from Singlife to POSB on Friday at 8pm but I have not received the money yet. I called POSB and they said they haven't received the money and that many have called in yesterday and today with the same problem. The office is closed on PH and weekends so there is no one I can talk to for 3 days. An anxious weekend awaits me. It seems like many of such complaints exist in FB. I will be closing my Singlife account on Monday when the office opens

how much did u withdraw ?

not surprising about no support over long weekend, i would avoid important transactions if possible

It’s about being strategic in how you do your withdraw to prevent self inflicted anxiety.

They aren’t a bank but an insurance company which is regulated by MAS. Wouldn’t be too worried about financial strength. But their system ain’t the most stable.

Knowing that, if one is withdrawing, especially when it’s a big amount, and especially overnight or over weekends, should just do a $1 withdrawal just to make sure it works then rest.

Why cause anxiety to self and also sacrifice in the interest.

Actually is there any difference between an insurance company's FAST IN and OUT vs a bank's FAST IN and OUT? isn't FAST a standard protocol or something? Thanks

Did Singlife states their transfers are via FAST? FAST should be immediate, but looking at their records, it is not FAST to me.
