Is there any way to know why some custom ROM can't pass Singpass even without root while other custom ROM can? Is it because of the ROM itself or because of the combination of phone & ROM?
It will be very troublesome to keep flashing different custom ROMs to try & find out. Time consuming + more risk of bricking phone.
So far I have tried MIUI EU, Lineage and Pixel Experience (PE - current OS for my phone), all non-root (no magisk / whatever root method intalled)- only lineage not able to use Singpass (SP).
Base on above scenario, I assume SP check the ROM, Lineage is known custom rom which need to unlocked bootloader hence it will never go through.
MIUI EU - even though still need to go through bootloader unlocked, it is seen as MIUI which is official stock ROM for Xiami/Redmi phones, so no issue. I did not install magisk delta+shamiko+USF mod for this phone, so cannot confirm if root will work with SP.
PE - it is seen as Pixel phone, so similar scenario as MIUI EU. Tried magisk delta+shamiko+USF mod, SP not working. Note it could be done wrong in one of the steps for my case.
Disclaimer: mine is K30 Pro (MIUI EU 14.0.5.0 firmware), so not sure if phone model/firmware play a part in getting SP works, so may not be the case for others.
