Not surprising if they do. From an inventory control and support maintenance POV, it makes sense to do so once they run out of ONTs, rather than order new ones and retain support. I am guessing they're just clearing out existing stocks of ONTs that they retained for support replacements. Once inventory runs dry, they'll just push out ONRs and push out new provisioning profiles from the back end,

It's a matter of time someone comes up with own/custom ONT box instead of being tied by these ISPs. I saw one video like someone oversea already done so. Of course cost would be one factor doubt many will do so. Guess the only box we can't change is the TP by NetLink under infrastructure.

Who know they may replace all to ONR when existing ONT 'died' (wear and tear) too. 🤣🤔

Not yet as I know that people are still getting the ZTE ONT replacement now.

But if that happens in the future, I will leave Singtel (signed back in Feb 2012, got my replacement ZTE ONR in Sept 2018).

Guys currently I am having this issue where after 1week + my Asus AX86u gives a very very Low download speed, high ojng and everything just bad but wifi signal is still full bar until I reboot both the Asus AX86u then it goes back to normal.

1 of the the solution I can think of it’s the scheduler reboot but I wanna see if there’s an alternative

Mine is onr how come I can request them to whitelist my deco m9? My deco m9 have the ability to auto bridge to onr. What I did 2 years back is just to tell SingTel to whitelist my deco m9 and that’s it.

No idea what you mean by whitelist.

What is your SingTel plan? What is the ONR model (Nokia or Huawei)? Take note ZTE model is configured as ONT.

Last time SingTel can entertain the request to bridge the ONR so that your router can be the main router (bridged port is a bit similar to ONT but no VLAN required, SingTel TV box must be connected to the unbridged ports). Now they seem to stop accepting new bridge request

If yours is recontract (no change of plan) then the ONR configuration will not change.

If you upgrade to 2Gbps plan, then the ONR can not be bridged. Your router should be set up in AP mode to avoid Double NAT.

Mine is 1gb plan. It put a SingTel logo so Donnoe which brand . Basically my deco m9 connects to the onr/modem and call them, they asked me the connected device is it tp link blablanla. I told them yes. So they whitelist my router . That’s it. Without them whitelisting your router MAC address. U plug in also no use .

but I am changing to m1 this month for lowest cost

That is not required for Singtel normal 1Gbps plan, no matter it is for Singtel ONT or Singtel ONR.

But for M1, that was required when you change router (as M1 cached the MAC address) -- but it is said that it is no longer required now.

Ic. Good to hear that no need to call them

I can see more and more Singtel ONR users (with ONR bridging) leaving Singtel due to the policy changes.

And I really will not recommend new users to go with Singtel due to this change.

Even for exising Singtel ONR users who are not using bridged ONR, it may make sense to move out as well since the ONR really pose quite some limitations.

I am still sticking to Singtel for now (ONT user with Singtel TV) but I will switch as well if they are going to change the ONT to ONR.

Ref:
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/singtel-port-forwarding-issue.6755972/
After asking Singtel why port mapping on the ONR doesn’t work, even after disconnecting my internal router and network they said “ Yes I understand your request is similar to bridge mode feature. Singtel ONR is fixed and as it is closed port to port mapping or bridge mode and the like are not allowed at this time by the system”.
Seems even in router mode its the same as I’m not in bridge mode…..useless.
I asked them for a list of open ports on their system…they said “There are no public ports open on the system as ONR port forwarding, bridge modes and the likes of it was not allowed since March 2022”

We all know Singtel will change ONT to ONR when the user changes address.

Previously when replacing faulty ONT, usually you will get the ZTE ONT as the replacement. It is said that Singtel started to replace with ONR recently. Anyone can confirm that?

If that is confirmed, I will start to thinking about moving away from Singtel and change to Starhub.

Better to move away, not only do they change to ONR, they are not allowing you to change alot of basic settings in the ONR, like ip addressing, DHCP range... etc.....

I am really moving away even if I were to pay a penalty.

Super frustrated

am using Singtel with ONT setuo. my contract has expired long time ago and thinking whether to stick with Singtel or change ISP :s22:
With your contract expired long time ago as you said, aren't you paying the (higher) published rate all this time? :s31:

The basic usage 1Gbps/$39.9 plan states Router / Terminal. So I guess there's a choice to switch to Terminal?

INCLUDES
Singtel GPON Optical Network Router/Terminal and a Wireless dual-band Access Point for new sign-ups

No, that is not possible since quite a few years ago (2018?) for SingTel new sign-up, only ONR and not ONT.

Hi, I plan to switch to Singtel 1 gbps basic plan due to staff benefits.

Currently, my setup is as follows:
ONT -> wired lan ->Router 1
Router 1 < 5Ghz Wifi > Router 2
Router 2 -> wired lan -> PC

(1) If I switch to Singtel which will give me ONR, can I connect a LAN cable from ONR to Router 1 via wired lan as above?

I'm not a technical guy but I remember I just had to configure Router 2 to have this setup. Since many are saying you can't configure much on the ONR, which would be acting the equivalent of ONT+Router 1, I guess it shouldn't affect me too much...?

(2) If not, can I connect ONR directly to Router 2?
i.e. ONR < 5Ghz Wifi > Router 2 -> wired lan -> PC

(3) what are the usual charges that I must be aware of to check if they will be waived since I'm switching from 1 ISP to another?
Eg. Registration fee, Service Activation fee, anything else?

(4) Can I port my digital home number from M1 to Singtel?

Personally, from what i read here, Singtel= ONR + high international latency=bad but the staff benefits are kind of great to ignore

Is there any reason why you chose StarHub over M1 if you plan to switch?
Is the latency better with Starhub for HK/USA server routing?

yeah kind of… i’m paying like around $51 for 1Gbps (Fibre Home Bundle Plan) 🤡. was reluctant to re-contract since i want to to change ISP for decent international latency? but idk which Telcos to go for…

i could re-contract for 2Gbps at $49.90, or 1Gbps at $37.90 :s22::s22::s22:

Both M1 and Starhub are okay choices. If you need free digital voice you have to go with M1. As for latency, I am not so sure -- not into gaming at all and I do not see any latency issues with Singtel for the things I do at home.

I happen to be a long time Starhub customer so I will probably choose Starhub over M1.
