I recently upgraded to Singtel 1GBPs plan and facing continous intermittent connectivity issues, it remain connected but no response on phones or laptops.

In the router, model#FG7009GR(AC) the following lights are not stable but keeps blinking, is this correct behaviour?

POWER - stable
ETHERNET - blinking
5GHz - blinking
2.5GHz - blinking
IPV - stable
BROADBAND - blinking
INTERNET - stable

as long as there is internet activity, the ethernet/wireless lights will flicker.

broadband light should be stable in all conditions, i think your 7009 got some problems..

Thanks, even I explained the same to Singtel that broadband light should be stable, they still saying 'no'.

then whack them lor. ask for an on-site visit and test out. but my suggestion is based on a possibility of a genuine performance fault such as wifi disconnection etc..

if your concern is because the led flickers but not affecting the performance, then i think an on-site visit will not yield any result..

Do not need to say about the light on the router. Just tell them your internet problem and request them to change the router.

They have changed the router once but still same intermittent connectivity issues. Their on call support says broadband light should be stable while when technician comes, he says flickering is ok and no issues !!

This pic will help?
The circled one constantly flickering:
ETHERNET - blinking
5GHz - blinking
2.5GHz - blinking
BROADBAND - blinking --> should be stable, right?

Hahas the picture doesn't show its blinking. U need a video.

Anyway, I've told you that all other lights should flicker except power, broadband and Internet lights.. iptv light should not flicker as well..

...

I note from your photo that only Ethernet 1 is connected. Since you have Singtel TV then this should be the only wired connection. The 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz LEDs are lighted meaning you have wifi devices. Since only TV is wired, then you should first try to find out whether this is a wifi (within your home) problem. Otherwise connect your notebook by wire and see whether the disconnection problem still persist.

Note: In the last 2 weeks, I had intermittent disconnection problem and the Broadband LED went off. I need to off/on the router to get back the Broadband light. Why the Broadband LED is off while the Internet LED is on, I don't know. This is weird, I believe it should be the other way round.

Edit for clarification: I am on FEB 200 Mbps, not 1 GBPS.

As long as your WAN is connected to a RJ45 port, be it a switch or ont or even a computer, broadband light will still lit up. But for Internet, it will only light up when it obtains a WAN IP.

For your case, I believe it's a temporary drop in connection when the router is still holding on to wan ip. Could be an issue with the cable or router or ont..

Or maybe, the led is blowing off soon, but as long as you can use the Internet and wifi, don't be too bothered by the led lights bah..

Initially when fibre broadband just launched, Singtel was good and stable however today it is lousy.

Aiyah. Be careful when reading lah. I had intermittent disconnection and when this happened the Broadband light went off.

And it is not true that when WAN is connected then Broadband LED will lit up. The Broadband LED will only lit up when my highway is clear and ready for takeoff. Then the Internet LED will lit up when the control tower give me permission and order to take off.

And how can I not be "too bothered by the led lights" when the Broadband LED goes off and I lose my Internet connection. You maybe can be not bother when this happen to you, but not me because it means downtime for me.

Lol. Anyway, I'm not gonna argue further, I have read my post and I believe I addressed the technical issue. Whether wan ip or the high way ready will light up the Broadband light, whichever u like to believe is your freedom.. lol

You have a clever way to avoid mistake. but only if you care not just to read your own post but also my post.

Since you cannot understand the analogy, let us forget it then.

I draw the intestine now:

A) Debunking your Broadband is lit and WAN is connected...

When in the standard setup my router WAN is connected to my ONT LAN, and the ONT LAN LED is off, meaning fibre connection to the ISP not working (or not established yet during router powering on sequence, then the Broadband (and also the Internet) LED will not lit up. Yes! WAN connected but Broadband not lit up! This is simple enough logic right?

B) Addressing the technical issue now...

I getting intermittent disconnection and when this happening the Broadband LED is off. Simple enough? Do you understand the technical issue?

Note: It is okay if you can run away with another clever answer.

Hi year2013,

Do not be sidetrack. As you can see this world is full of distraction.

I was hoping I can share with you my experience and test if you also get intermittent disconnection when using wired connection to your notebook.

i read there are many disconnection issues with singtel fibre. where is the problem actually?

now i am seriously considering my option of whether to switch from my starhub 50 Mbps to singtel non-1Gbps plans. i thought the lower speed plans are more stable.

there isn't any disconnection issue at all, pertaining to the service delivery on the backbone basis.

but i do need to say that the given aztech router is not as stable as the 3rd parties one, especially when comparing with asus routers.

Since you are going for the non-1gbps plans, you will be given the aztech router. You will then realise that the wifi performance is less stable the moment you have prior experience with 3rd party routers. And when you do have wifi issue, a reboot of the router will usually solve the problem..

However, despite the rough edges you will be facing using the aztech router, you might want to consider using a 3rd party router. by doing that, i mean you need to get routers with built-in vlan support, or else it won't work.

I have a 200mbps fibre entertainment bundle running on aztech 7003 router with wifi disabled, while having a unlimited fibre service running on asus ac3200. as such, i have no wifi performance issue and trust me, aztech's lan performance is solid..

I can't speak of starhub or even other ISPs, cos i don't have any active service with them..

I hope he is not a ST support staff, but just a ST fanboy.

It is very normal for a fanboy to claim no problem, no issue. Seriously better hope no fanboy working as ST support, otherwise BIG problem man. Then will be everything no problem at their end. Nothing to be solved.

Seems to be router issue. You can seek help with 3rd party vendor like HNS - Home Network Solutions at 86158946. Can find them on Facebook.
