I'm just an ordinary user of internet service. Not a techie.

My Aztech FG7008 router light is always blinking and I presume it is due to activities or data consumption.

I don't have any problem with my internet connection.

I'm just curious why you said that the broadband light should not blink.

maybe you are holding the later hardware revision or maybe there is a change in firmware that cause that. when i was testing 7008 at the start of the year running older firmware, it didn't blink. it was only flickering so fast to a point it can't easily tell you if its stable or blinking..

i don't have the 7008 now, so i can't test it again..

did u update to the latest 003 firmware?

i would think no constant blinking is good. For my case, when I switch off the power, the lightings go off and when I switch on the power, the lightings will start to blink. After that, it will be constant with no blinking. That's normal, no?

if you read the link i posted, OFF -> blinking -> Stable are the correct states.

broadband blinking means a connection between router and ONT is attempting to establish.

i dont have this router. but based on my engineering knowledge and understanding of how electronics work, the broadband should NOT be blinking. just like the power button, it should always be ON all the time. if blinking, it means they are having intermittent issues which should not be happening.

anyway, im not sure why is there a confusion. just refer to the documentation. see page 12. the explanations there are very clear.

Just that I did a test just to confirm what I saw on my router.

I shut off all wifi devices and just have a lan connection to the router.

Testing with just normal internet browsing and I would say the LAN port and the Broadband lights blink at the same rate.

And I don't have problem with the internet connection..

So I'm confused about the disparity with what is stated on the manual and what I see on the router.

My router's firmware is not running the latest 3-003 version but the 02-011 version.

As I mentioned in my reply to MikeDirnt78 above, the blinking is identical for the active LAN port and the Broadband light. If you run a speedtest, both will flicker very fast but I would say almost identical as well.

or why dont you leave the router ON and switch OFF and ON the ONT?

compare the blinking on the broadband led.

So I switched off the ONT only and turn it back on.

The router broadband light is steady while the ONT is initialising.

Once the connection is authorised, both the ONT Lan Port 1 and the router Broadband lights dance to the same sequence. And both the router Broadband and LAN port lights dance also to the same sequence.

So my conclusion is that when there are activities or data movement, the lights on the router lan and broadband lights will blink at the same tempo.

Move on move on.. the lights are not going anywhere.. hahas..

End of the day, it is important that my connection to the internet is fine....

it is a useful information for some of the guys on the 1st page who are encountering connections problem.

for upgrade case, his broadband is off.

for year2013 case, his broadband is blinking. it means this normal.

When my Internet is working, both Internet and Broadband LEDs are on solid green no flickering, which happen to be as stated in Aztech manual.

In the last 2 weeks when I experienced intermittent Internet disconnection, the Broadband LED is off, which also happen to be as stated in Aztech manual.

Did not pay attention to ONT LAN whether on or off.

Hi all, m out of SG right now.
Singtel confirmed that the latest router 7009 has some issues (many customers facing this intermittent WiFi DC issue) and they will upgrade the firmware to fix it.
Once m back will let you know the outcome.

FYI - the broadband light should be stable.

Complete details:
POWER - stable
ETHERNET - blinking
5GHz - blinking
2.5GHz - blinking
IPV - stable
BROADBAND - stable*
INTERNET - stable

Agree this router is crap, but asus routers 5Ghz have problem. Latest firmware on their web will cause network features not to work like accessing a NAS path. On 2.4Ghz, no issue. But wired connection, asus r fast

You can email asus so that they can work on a new firmware. Did you upgrade to Windows 10?

Stay away from N56U. Problematic router. Other models should be fine from Asus.

define problematic? i was using it for 1yr+ before i upgrade to N66U?

7009 might be unstable, but definitely not the 7002 and 7003. 7009 responds well to reboot, u might wanna try that. Had 7009 for a while until it refused to power on.. then I took the plunge to ac3200 from asus. Hahas!
