Hi everyone, I need some advice here as I'm not sure if the new setup I'm planning will work.
Basically I'm currently using the Starhub eb810v which I bought it off someone and configured it myself to use for Singtel fibre.
My current 1g fibre setup: ONT > eb810v (router mode) > D-Link switch (room) > PC & PS5.
I just recontracted my Singtel fibre to 5gbps and they're giving me the HB810.

My question is am I able to use the HB810 outside the living room as the main router and the eb810 in my room via wired backhaul and also "act as a switch" so I can remove the D-Link switch.
Example: ONR > HB810 > EB810v > PC & PS5.
Can these two routers work together as mesh wifi as well?

Thanks in advance for any kind advice. 😊🙏

Yes, your plan should work.

Both the HB810 and EB810v should work in AP mode.

Whether you can set up TP-Link EasyMesh successfully is another story. I believe it does not work in AP mode. But no need to worry too much. Just set them up in AP mode and you should still be fine as both support 802.11 k/v.

Looks like SingTel is now actively promoting 5Gbps Gamer Pro Plan.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/pr...and/fibre-broadband-plans/fibre-gaming-bundle

Bad thing --> compared to the old 1+1 Gamer Bundle.
1) using Singtel XGS-PON ONR (unbridged). Singtel no longer offers 1+1 Gamer Bundle (with one port of the GPON ONR bridged) to new users.
2) still using the old RT-AX86U router

Good thing:
1) still have WTFast Gamers Private Network Service
2) with contents bundle.
12 months of Singtel TV Ethnic Pack* (for new Singtel TV user)
12 months of Disney+ Premium
12 months of Amazon Prime
12 months of Viu Premium

New 5Gbps plan vs old 5Gbps plan.

1) Initial 5Gbps Enhanced plan at S$49.90 per month with one free Singtel AX5400 router. The user can also get TP-Link HB810 WiFi 7 router from Singtel (S$16.80 x 24 = S$403.2)
https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-singtel-offering-5gbps-broadband-home

2) New 5Gbps plan: supposed for new users only but existing user can negotiate with Singtel to get the same offer.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/5gbps
[NEW] 5Gbps Enhanced Mesh Plan WiFi 6 at $56.09/mth (U.P. $106.09/mth) --> bad choice as the bundled mesh solution is junk.
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 Router and 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 Mesh

[NEW] 5Gbps Enhanced Mesh Plan WiFi 6 at $61.18/mth (U.P $116.28/mth) --> bad choice as the bundled mesh solution is junk.
Comes with 1 unit of Singtel WiFi 6 Router and a pair of Singtel WiFi 6 Mesh Extenders

5Gbps Enhanced Plan with WiFi 7 Router at $59.90/mth (U.P. $95.90/mth) --> better choice as the bundled router is decent.
Comes with XGS-PON Optical Network Router + 1 unit TP-Link BE22000 WiFi 7 Router

3) If single HB810 is not enough, you can get the second unit of HB810 from Singtel (S$16.80 x 24 = S$403.2)
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/wifi7
[50% off] 1x TP-Link HB810 BE22000 WiFi 7 Router (worth $799) at $16.80/mth
+ Free Weekday Installation worth $91.68

4) Singtel NTUC offer still has the Singtel Enhanced plan at S$47.72 per month (for new users only).
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/lifestyle-services/ntuc#20--off-broadband-plans
Comes with
Singtel WiFi 6 router
12 months of Amazon Prime
12 months of Disney+ Premium
Complimentary Red Membership for the 1st year, with an $80 voucher off your mobile device or broadband plan
Home telephone line

Nice offer, better than the new user offer, especially if you do not need the HB810 WiFi 7 router. I am paying S$49.90 per month for the same plan as you.

Ya. I ask for kosong pure plan but the prime membership and wifi ap cant be remove from the system so take it lo.

Test result:-
Limit at 2.5Gbps speed due to Lan port is only 2.5gbps.

The ZTE XGS-10GbPON is huge, almost 3-4 times bigger than 1gb lousy gpon.

1. Basic setup with your own 2.5Gbps capable router (eg: Asus GT-AX6000, TUF-AX6000, Xiaomi BE6500 Pro, Xiaomi BE7000, etc, with two or more 2.5G ports). You can always upgrade to 10G capable router later.

2. Basic setup with Singtel issued router, or your own router. You may not have 10Gbps wired device now but you can use a 2.5G wired device first and later upgrade your wired device (desktop, laptop, NAS, etc).

You can configure your own router in router mode as well and live with Double NAT.

3. More adavnced user may want to add a 10G switch to use more 10G capable devices.

Hi Xiaofan, I am looking your 5Gbps modified setup as my home route has a 2.5gbs WAN port. Can I connect the 2.5gbps to ONR 10Gb LAN port? Will it connect at 2.5gbps or 1gbps or will not work at all. Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Thanks xiaofan! The onr spec sheet like mentioned 1/10Gbps. Not sure if is mgig port. I am also thinking to slot my 2.5G switch in between to extend the 2.5G to LAN. If anyone has that setup working, do let me know. Thanks!

Hi Kappak, did you connect the XGS-10GPON_10G UTP to your 2.5Gbps switch?

Fibre > ZTE XGS-10GPON > HDB patch panel hub > Xiaomi BE10000(10Gbps LAN port in) > 2.5GBps LAN port out > Desktop LAN Port(2.5Gbps).

If want fully 10Gbps port connection all the way to desktop . I need to purchase 10Gbps PON stick and 10Gbps pcie lan card which will cost me S$100-S$200 i guess so i stick with what i have now.

Wifi 7 routers available in the market is not full blood version. I hold first.

Thanks bro! Actually I am planning to do this : Fiber -> XGS-10GPON_10G port -> 2.5G switch -> (2.5G WAN port in)Xiaomi AX9000. Same qn as Xiaofan if the 10G Port from ONR can support 2.5gbps. My cable connections will connect to the 2.5G switch. Just want to make the best out of what I have now. Thanks!

Yes. Initally I used another cheaper Hasivo switch with dual SFP+ port, then I use a SFP+ 10G RJ45 copper module from Ganwen and it worked as well.

Anyway, I just tried the following connection and it works as well. So the Singtel ZTE F8648P 10G LAN port is working with 2.5G Ethernet as well.

Singtel ONR 10G LAN port --> Hasivo 2.5G switch 2.5G port

Then my mini PC will be limited by 2.5G (about 2.37Gbps)

BTW, Singtel has limited info for the ZTE F8648P ONR
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont/zte-f8648p-onr

This seems to be a custom version for Singtel.

The normal ZTE F8648P ONR has AX6000 wireless function (just like Starhub Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR with AX6000 wireless). The dimension is still the same (huge ONR).
