Currently using Asus RT-AC87U.

How good is it cause it's still in the box.

Seems that Singtel TV GO can't seems to detect my STB.
Maybe the Singtel Wifi Gigabit Router AC Plus is a must to install?

That Singtel modem is crappy i got 0.17 Mbps out of nowhere yesterday night. and Yes, based on the pic it seems like you have to connect your modem & crappy modem wirelessly then connect set top box with the crappy modem.

Go speedtest.net to check your speed.

To check ip address of router, run command prompt. Type the following,

Ipconfig/all

Then enter. Check the default gateway. That is your router ip address.

Used to serve me reasonably well in the past. But recent months, this router keeps on giving me intermittent auto no internet access via 5Ghz wifi despite just next to it / within line of sight.

Replaced router by technician previously also same. Finally gave up and switched to ASUS router. So far so good. Keep finger crossed. No more such issue.

This router is defective, intermittent issues. My relative is using it and i went over to help him troubleshoot, he had issue like yours too.. after tweaking here and there the speeds became normal but intermittently the issue returns.. i tried swap his network adapter and router, confirmed is the router issue.

Have the same issue too, the mobile phone Wi-Fi (5Ghz) frequently loses connection and reconnect awhile later.

Singtel - if you are reading this, please confirm and acknowledge the router is an issue and if another model will be rolling out soon, not AC Elite, AC Plus or AC 1900. Please advise.

I have to use back my Old Aztech FG7003GRV (AC) , then Dun have disconnection issue, but the speed is slower, and it's a SU-MIMO also. Sianz.

In terms of WiFi speed , features or stability?

Most Asus routers should have the OpenVPN server functionality, file server + download server, time machine,traffic analyzer etc.

WiFi speed depends more on your device and interference +obsticals around your house.

Stability will be questionable for most consumer grade routers. Many of them needs to be restarted at least once a month or earlier and some of them can overheat if placed in a confined space or worked too hard etc.

If you want stability go for devices from mikrotik & ubiquiti. I use a ubiquiti AP that worked flawlessly for over a year since the day I bought it.

There is no point having a tri band router unless you have 100+ devices all in the same room as the router/AP

For Singtel unless you have an ONT you will be forced to use your router in AP mode only. Also your router will have to support the Singtel preset or manually tag vlans.

If you want you can put an AP in each room for 5ghz coverage for your whole house.

How about a totally different approach and try out mesh system? Like Singtel airties Wi-Fi mesh for $10/mth for a pair, one of the more affordable option to go mesh

I wonder if this is considered a service lapse as the provided routers are not working in the first place. Can IMDA take action on Singtel for this? Shall check out the IMDA website shortly.

Seem like a widespread issue eh, my neighbour is also pulling his hair out due to the intermittent connectivity issues with this RG...

No issues when connected directly to the RG with ethernet cable.
