Hey guys a little help here. I am currently using SingTel FG7009GR (AC) Dual Band AC-Gigabit Wireless Router and is placed in my living room. However my laptop cannot receive 5G in the room. The room is only around 5m apart and separated by one door. What can I do to improve the situation? I tried using the wifi extender but speed is still slow. Thanks!

Change the router?
You can try cheap ones like those Asus RT-AC2600 in Carousell, dumped by M1 users.

Or you can get cheap MESH to complement your existing router. For example TP-Link Deco M4, S$99 a pair from Challenger.

No need. By right your digital voice should be from the ONT and not from the SingTel AC router.

Only for very early time the digital voice was connected to SingTel AC router. For example I changed my SingTel Digital Voice from the SingTel provided router (Pace) to the ONT back in 2014. Then I changed the router to my own Linksys WRT-AC1900 router which I am still using now.

Hi, can I check how can I disable the wifi function on the ac plus router?
Planning to get a pair of mesh router to do wired back hauling but need to keep the singtel router because it also output signal to my singtel tv box.

Otherwise, is it possible to connect the ONR to a mesh router then to singtel tv box?
I tested with an old D-link DIR-850L connected between ONR and set TOP box but singtel tv could not get any tv signal from it.

Any expert can advise why?
Hope to find a solution as I would like to free up 1 of my 2 living room Ethernet port to do wired backhaul to my bedroom satellite mesh node.

Since you are using an ONR, you can connect the Singtel TV set top box directly to the ethernet port of the ONR. The main mesh node can also be connected directly to the ONR too.

You can only combine TV and Broadband on the same physical line if you use VLAN. You would need to have a router/managed switch on both ends of the line to setup the VLAN.

But my ONR is located in the kitchen due to the terminating point and built in network switch there. That’s why I cant shift my ONR to living room.

Hi can elaborate more on VLAN as I am not familiar with it?
Is the VLAN setting done on the new mesh router which is why Google nest wifi is not compatible?

If that's the case, you may want to consider mesh that has VLAN support or get the mesh system that's offered by Singtel eg. AirTies 4920/4930, Askey etc.

Hi All,

Not much offer from singtel, so planning to switch from singtel 1G fibre to either M1 or starhub 500mb fibre.

I been using ONR (Huawei HG8244H) + Gigabit AC1900 router both provided by singtel for long time.
The ONR is connected to 2 locations:
1) living room where the router is connected
2) bedroom where my computer is connected to the rj45 terminal via cable (I can use my com with my router off)

If i switch over,
Q1) can i reuse my AC1900 or do i need to get a new router?
Q2) will the ONR be able continue to work properly without the router for my bedroom connection?

Thanks

1) You have to return the ONR. It belongs to SingTel.
2) You have to get a new router. I believe the AC Elite /AC1900 and AC Plus can be used as an AP, but not as the main router for other ISPs, since you can not disable the built in vlan function.

Do you know if M1 or Starhub provides their ONR? If they do, i could still reuse AC1900 correct?

What is the AC speed of the SingTel AC Plus? I can't seem to find that information anywhere.

Technical spec:
AC1200, theoretical max speed.
Up to 300Mbps on 2.4GHz
Up to 867Mbps on 5GHz (2*2 AC WiFi)

SingTel info: the wireless speed listed are a bit on the conservative side if at close range, but reflect the real world performance, like a few meters ways from the router.

https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont/arcadyan-ac-plus-guide/features

1. Supported Services
Fibre Broadband
Singtel TV

2. Wireless Connection Mode
*Dependent on broadband subscription

B Mode: Up to 11 mbps
G Mode: Up to 20 mbps
N (2.4GHz) Mode: 40-70mbps
N (5GHz) Mode: 70-120mbps
AC Mode (5GHz only): 70-230mbps

3. WPS Push Button
Yes (Enabled by defaualt)
