On a side note, is it possible for an NSF MO to request to be posted to NDU and go for the combat diving course, in the same sense that an MO posted to CDO must go and earn his red beret?

posted to NDU is probably by selection, the MO must be combat fit(not a LTA), even the medics are shortlisted and then picked. I think they know basic diving(the badge w/ just the diving mask), not the combat one that the divers use.

as for CDO, I don't think their MO is compulsory to be a commando, just like in guards it is optional for the MO to go for GCC

I see, thanks. I'm asking because it's my turn to re-enlist (after disrupting) next year. i was called for the VA for NDU when I was in JC, but sadly didn't get picked. Still very interested to get the badge though!

I am not very sure but this maybe the reason.

military free fall with red backing = Extra jumps + Full Combat Load.

airborne badge with yellow backing = Instructor.

Vocation badge outrank any other skill badge.

So consider airborne badge with yellow backing is a vocation badge for an Instructor.
