sharing my mi 9t repair here..
i replaced the white tape thing. to replace with my own 2mm double sided tape. turns out, my tape is too thin. stack 5layers also cant paste it tgt.
end up, i ownself cut my own tape from this tape i last time bought from shopee:
i v stupid la, while trying to cut small strips, i at first limit the length my of penknife. then i instinctively keep making blade longer. by the time im done, i realised i accidentally slashed my silicon repair matt many times
now my mi 9t pro is held tgt with double sided tape. no glue.
screen held tgt by 2mm thin tape.
back glass held tgt by DIY silicon flexible tape
turn on phone, go settings, about phone, kernel, tap it like 5 times to open up CIT, do all the diagnostic testing there.
new issue: vibration not working. i open it up again, and start it, and somehow it works. motor spins. but once i assemble it, turn on again, it doesnt work. idk why. maybe its the loudspeaker assemble got something preventing it from spinning..
too much work to figure it out.
for those interested, there are stencils where the tape is precut for you. something like this. its basically rubber/silicon double sided tape that is pre-cut. if your phone have like protruding stuff like a camera, they will cut out the stencil of the camera so u can position it nicely, remove the plastic, and apply the tape onto your phone, and can achieve pretty good waterproofing.
these are like 2dollar ea.
i believe many hp repair shops use this for iphone and samsungs cause it's common models and it saves alot labour. prolly <50cent ea if bought in bulk. i spent like 1hr cutting my own tape lol
