Your case similar to mine dad ip6 before was ok but after update to iOS 10 it’s cock the Touch ID even try to do a clean inDsll.no help in the end ask for a express exchange lucky I hoot applecsre for him

That'll be the last resort. Now re-opened my case with an Apple advisor, awaiting other options.

Did that to no avail as well. But anyway I just had a chat session with Apple support, was asked to send a diagnostics of my phone to them and was told passed the test, so it’s a software issue. Was told that only way to resolve is to restore from a backup via iTunes as it will install back a fresh copy of iOS as compared to doing it via iPhone settings as it won’t install a fresh copy.

BTW all the time I’ve been using OTA for iOS updates.

Never trust OTA, cable for assurance.

how is the performance and battery life on your iPhone 6S on iOS 11.4? I am still on iOS 9.3.5 after hearing all the issues that came with iOS 10 and 11 albeit it was slowly rectified along the way I guess

My battery was replaced two months ago, so my experience is not accurate le...

However my upgrade path was 10.3.x direct to 11.3, no regret la... now with 11.4 more than 24h, all still good.

So if I send a lot of message and image through I message. My storage not enough and I need to purchase more storage? Or I need to delete the message every now and then? As of now I don’t even need to delete .

Maybe will remind you to delete message or apps? will prompt you to buy more space, thats for sure

Doesn't mean diagnosis test pass means no issue.. I once had a issue where NFC could not work at all even after software reset.

Went down to apple store and they did a 1-1 exchange.

Yes so was told to restore iPhone, test it out as a new phone then restore back from my latest backup. So far so good.

Never trust OTA, cable for assurance.

Only the main camera app causing problems, 3rd party ones and those rewards apps or shopping apps no issues.

Ultimately was transferred to a senior advisor and was advised to restore iPhone via iTunes then test it out as a new phone. If working then restore the backup.

I did ask if OTA is less secure than from iTunes, was told both are equally safe.

Now, just monitoring.

I just have this crazy idea that WiFi signals (which can become poor) cause instability when downloading the update package, causing it to be incomplete/corrupted.

But that's just me.

Well that's a very good point you've stated. Yes the senior advisor said that your wifi signal or connection must be strong and secure in order to lessen errors.

But I've always used my home wifi to download and install. Who knows, somehow or somewhere got some instability.

Hope so too. I did ask if worst case scenario if till fails? He told me they'll escalate the case to the Engineers as they'll need to look into the technical details of the diagnosis. My thought is that I'll just bring it down to Apple during the weekend direct, that is IF anything still goes wrong *touch wood*.

My worst fears have surfaced, the problem STILL persists. Now I’m beginning to think if there’s any app in my phone causing conflict with the camera app.

also, bring the whole box in hopes of a 1-1 exchange.

Make sure if the exchange is made. the box is the retail box and not a white box.

I observed that the white box is a refurb set, not confirm though

That sounds bad, so might need an appointment after all, now ongoing chat (3rd time) with Apple Support. Hopefully will be the last time on this issue.

Came to a stalmate, Genius Bar appointments only as early as next Wednesday and next Saturday time slots are not available yet.
