any link to back this up?

I find that killing app saves me more battery.
Maybe for those frequently used apps is we keep them in background.

iOS suspends background apps so there's no need to kill them unless they go rogue. it's not Android.

Apple has already debunked the myth. Closing the app from the background does not save battery. Craig Federighi has also said in one of the interviews.

In the email shared with 9to5Mac, Apple iOS chief Craig Federighi jumps in to answer Caleb’s question. The message headers have been verified for legitimacy. This is the arguably the strongest opposition from Apple executives on record in reply to the ‘quit all your apps’ superstition; Apple’s official support pages say that force-quitting should only be used on a case-by-case basis when an app freezes or misbehaves.

Side note as an Application developer for iOS and Android. On iOS we can barely keep apps alive for any longer than 3 min max unless we ask for very specific and special things.

Apps that play audible content to the user while in the background, such as a music player app
Apps that record audio content while in the background
Apps that keep users informed of their location at all times, such as a navigation app
Apps that support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Apps that need to download and process new content regularly

These apps can run but they must be declared explicitly

It’s very hard to run a controlled experiment to prove or debunk the hypothesis. It’s quite impossible to measure power consumption for every app launch. Based on a general consensus it’s fine to leave it to iOS to manage what the apps do in the background. Unless you don’t have a rogue app like Facebook in the background.

Ever since I installed iOS 12, battery has been bad... battery drop so fast, especially using safari. Battery can drop 5-8% from 10-15 min surfing hardwarezone forum. I wonder if reformat help? Iphone SE user here.

Update: battery seems better after I turn off iCloud sync on safari. At least I don’t observe sudden 5% drop.

Updated on the iphone 6+ and ended up with unstable phone which would reboot at anytime during usage. Had to hard reset to factory default.

Have you checked the battery health? Have you tried a DFU restore?
