15 Sep 2012 - Day trip to Peterhof

15 Sep 2012 - Day trip to Peterhof

My last day in Russia. Went on a day trip with fellow traveler from the hostel. It was a holiday (fountain closing) in Peterhof and the gardens were closed for an event. But still, we decided to go.

It wasn't the easiest place to get to. We had a Russian girl with us and still she said it was difficult to get there.

First stop was the Palace of Peter

Photography not allowed inside. Unless you have a tour guide, I feel it's not worth to pay to go in. Most of the stuff are in the Russian language. We had a Russian girl who guided us. But still, I felt it wasn't worth paying to get in.

hi like to check? how is your luggage like? is it safe to put it on train? i prefer the trolley luggage cos backpack will just wear me out.

where to buy LOI? i wanted to go Russia in Feb.

Sorry to dig this up but if you take trolley luggage, it will wear you out even faster.

Reason being is the wheels. Any wheeled luggage is heavier due to the wheels. They also add weight if you did not notice.

The other reason is the incessant need to retract or carry when you encounter an obstacle such as stairs or rough terrain.

Finally, try using a trolley luggage in snow. :s13:

Seriously, if backpacking which I assume is pretty much budget travel, the wheeled luggage is not the right tool.
