yeah. normally 12th midnight not much people. will go out on 13th night.

Alright. Maybe 11 and 12 night will just chill at some Skybar or bistro bar instead. Hahaha. 13th night den come out drink. Haha.

1st time going Thailand, and will be in Bangkok/Chiang Mai during the Songkran (13th - 15th April right? That's what they said on the web)

Any advice from experts here on how's Songkran like in Bangkok? Is it all 3 days play water and most of the shops closed also? (since it's their new year, can't do shopping then? )

Wanted to visit Khao San Road to look/buy stuffs. Thanks experts!

Anyone knows if any of their malls/stalls remains open in Bangkok during Songkran? Also, since it's celebrated throughout the entire week, does it means most shops around Thailand will be closed too?

not much diff during songkran, most shop still open as usual .. 80%

In front of Central World from 13-15 April, from noon to 10 p.m.
Along Khao San road from 13-15 April.
At Siam Square from 13-15 April, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Along Silom road from 13-15 April <== Please note, this is near the protest site
At Route 66 RCA from 11-15 april starting at 6 p.m.

BANGKOK, 12 April 2014, (NNT) - Twelve roadways in Bangkok are to be closed to traffic temporarily, providing additional safe venues for Songkran enthusiasts to participate in water play.

Pol. Lt. Gen.Jirasan Keawsaeng-Ake, Traffic Division Commander made the announcement, further noting that the closures would be in effect from Sunday evening until Tuesday. He stated Songkran event goers can freely splash water along the following routes; Khaosan Road, Chakrapong Road, Bawonnivet Road, Samsibhang Road, and Tanao Road from Khokwua to Samsinhang Roundabout. These roads are closed from 6pm to midnight over the three days, while the section of Silom Road from Saladaeng to Naralom Intersection will be closed from 2 pm to 9 pm.

I wore both shorts and slippers during the 1st day. Doesn't seems to be an issue with them. Most of the locals were wearing the same stuffs too.

I also saw my friends posting their videos in facebook - they were wearing tshirts, shorts and slippers. It looked fun, i see my friends enjoying in Phuket.
